I am going to China in a week and will be on the last week of P3. I am wondering if anyone has any helpful suggestions for traveling on P3. What snacks to take...etc?

Bags of nuts, string cheese. I'm never without those. :-)

Hi!! I have travelled internationally on p3 twice now. They will let you carry on food....just no liquids. We buy really good quality sliced turkey or chicken (no hormones, no chemicals) you can freeze it if you want...but keep in original package. We also do cheese sticks...and beef jerky, turkey jerkey, whatever kind of jerky. I also cut up a couple of apples and sliced them, a cucumber and sliced it, put salt and pepper on it. Carry it all on!! Oh ... and hard boiled eggs...I take them too...peeled and in a baggie.

While in china...just concentrate on protein dishes. Have extra jerky with you in case there isn't enough protein on a particular day. If the jerkey for that purpose is in your checked bags, and hasn't been opened...they won't care about it.

    Hope this helps :))

Also, I would take some Jay Robb protein powder. That way if you are having trouble getting enough protein, you can be sure you get it with the powder.

Low-carb protien bars might work in a pinch too...I'm also headed out of the country and besides packets of the Jay Robb protein powder, nuts, Stevia and cheese, I picked up a package of low-carb/high protein tortillas. They lay flat so don't take up much space in the suitcase, and only 3 net carbs each tortilla and 9 grams protein. They might have a tiny bit of starch (in the three carbs) but I'm not worried too much as it's far better in a pinch than going off track and being stuck with something really awful.

Tortillas are totally grain. You can't go by the carbs on food. :-( They call it NET carbs because they have fiber but they are grains which you absolutely can't have on P3 if you want to reset right. :-( Most protein bars have starch in them too.

But really, you should be able to get meat in the airport, even if you just get a hamburger and take off the bun. It's not hard to eat on P3, luckily! Now P2 would be a different story! But even Chinese stirfry should be pretty good. :-)

Well it's not possible to get fresh meat lying on a beach all day. (I'm headed to the Caribbean) I'm not concerned about 1 gram or less of starch (the ingredients are soy protein, oat bran, wheat bran) as long as I keep my total carbs under 30 per day. I'd rather enjoy myself and if I go up a couple pounds, I'll deal with it upon my return.

I plan on lots of seafood and salads! I think being active is also important...I usually lose weight on my vacations because instead of sitting at a desk all day, I'm very active hiking, swimming, horseback riding, biking, etc. So like I said, I think whatever small amounts of sugar or starch I eat will be quickly burned off. My hotel also has a fitness center, which I plan to visit.

I'm going to St Croix in two weeks myself. :-) I'm on P4 now though so I can have what I like, but I will still be careful. I don't intend to gain.

You don't count carbs on P3 though, straightscoop. In fact, Trudeau recommends THREE fruits a day which would put you over that 30 without anything else. It really is the grain and sugar that has to be watched and nothing else. Love that about the protocol!
