anything waterbased...Nutrageona (sp?) is good for face. I've been using Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer for lotion, just trying not to use too much of it. We're allowed to use baby oil, too.

I just kept using my regular shampoo and body wash and i use Carmex on my lips (like a fiend!). protocol says you can use lipstick so not so sure the carmex is ok or not...

The clinic I'm using gave me a list of OK cosmetics...NA-PCA, Sephora, Clinique, Nutragena, Alba, Zia, Any powder but had no suggestion for lips.

I have and oil free face moisturizer.....do you think that is ok...I agree it is brutal to not have something for the hands, face and lips. Also, if a rub some baby oil on the hands....that is OK as well?

I use ponds dry skin cream for my face. It has mineral oil which is not really an oil and the molecules are too big to be absorbed by the body. I also use Vaseline for my body and Carmex for my lips. Works as well as the most expensive stuff.

You have not found any of these have stalled you??? I am on VLCD2 and only lost.2 for my first weigh in so was pretty disappointed and nervous about deviating at all from protocol. I really appreciate the feedback!

B'Ballmom, I'm on VLCD1 so this is still an experiment. But I do know that the base of all those products is mineral oil which is a petroleum derivative that cannot be absorbed by the body.

I have heard lots of people mention that Ponds is really bad for you. But I have been using it all my life and I never break out and have really nice skin.

I've had a really bad time with dry skin on my hands & face too. The only thing I found that works is Oil of Olay (I think it's called Rejuvinate........lite purple bottle). I've done ok with it.

Shampoo doesn't have oil in it, so I don't see why you couldn't use whatever shampoo you are used to. Even conditioner doesn't seem like it would put any oil in the scalp. But, I don't use conditioner so I wouldn't know. I use Paul Mitchell shampoo, and I know it doesn't cause any stalls.

I decided long ago that there were a few things I wouldn't compromise. I get cold sores if my lips get too dry. So, when my lips are dry I use Carmex or Neosporin. I also use a small amount of Lubriderm lotion on my face each morning because I live in a very dry climate. I don't care if it's protocol or not. Still, I haven't noticed a correlation between my use of these products and any stalls.
