I'm not sure where you guys are reading that this is toxic. It promotes liver function... I've googled this and found nothing but good things.

    http://www.herbsarespecial.com.au/free-herb-information/dandelion.html

    I quote:
A daily tea of dandelion root, or eating the leaves, is recommended for anyone with liver complaints. It can be eaten regularly as a preventative, helping to keep the liver at peak efficiency. As the green leaves are a valuable alkaliser to the body, eaten regularly they assist the body to reduce excess acidity; oxygenate, purify and build blood; cleanse and regenerate cells. The bitter principles stimulate the digestion (by salivation, and the production of stomach acids and enzymes); assist liver, spleen, gall and pancreas function, and make it easier to digest fats and oils. Dandelion has been found to stimulate mucus membranes, sooth the digestive tract, absorb toxins from the bowel, help friendly flora to thrive and inhibit unfriendly bacteria. Eating dandelion regularly has a reputation of relieving diabetes. The following blend of herbs put in 00 capsules, and one taken after each meal is found to be beneficial: 2 parts dandelion, 1 part fennel, 1/2 part ginger and 1 part elecampane. It is said that dandelion leaves consumed daily in salads can dissolve gallstones"

    and further:

"Dandelion is helpful for people who suffer from allergies, eczema and other skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, gout, rheumatism, gall stones, metabolic disturbances, bone disorders, low blood pressure, poor circulation, ulcers, anemia, halitosis (bad breath), constipation, malignant tumors, colds, lowering cholesterol, cardiac edema, heart burn, swollen glands, hot flushes, and as a sleep inducing night cap. Dandelion is a herb with fat metabolising properties. For weight loss several cups of dandelion tea can be sipped daily, adding 1-2 tablesp. of cider vinegar to each cup. Therapeutically, dandelion can be used as leaf or root tea, a tincture, or the fresh leaves blended with vegetables or fruit juices. An infusion of 1 teasp. of root to 1 cup of water may be prepared and taken freely (several cups a day). Sweeten with honey if desired. 5-6 fresh leaves to 1 cup of boiling water, left to steep 5-10 minutes, can be used similarly. A wash to relieve inflamed eyes and also applied to facial blemishes is made with dandelion leaves, stems and flowers. The white sap from the stems placed on warts several times a day will be a powerful way to tell them to shrivel and disappear."

I would check out this link before we go overboard on how "toxic" dandelion root is.

scrappy, I didn't think people were calling dandelion toxic. I think they were saying it was helping to remove toxins from their bodies. Unless I missed something.

Your post reminded me why I used to drink a lot of dandelion tea. That was 15 years ago, and it's amazing what I DON'T remember anymore. :-) My husband and I both used to use it to combat eczema, hoping that the cleansing properties would be of benefit. I think we took it with Golden Seal, now that I think about it. I used to know a lot about herbs and now it's like that knowledge never existed. Weird.

I've been continuing to use the 3 tea combo, but not to lose more weight, since I'm in P3, but because I feel like I need a good cleansing and this is a start. I'm still tired a lot, but today I think I actually feel better. Day 5 of the tea combo.

Hi all, I lost .75 this morning and did drink the tea yesterday but I felt so bad yesterday its not worth it. too bad!. I also didnt have melba toast last night.

I am wondering why its making me feel bad - maybe its too strong a detox and I could be experiencing detox symtoms to the max or maybe because I've drinken it for several days I dont need it anymore or maybe it for some reason causes a reaction in me - not sure

Anyone else experience feeling really crappy after drinking the tea?

I had to stop hcg diet last year due to liver pain (gallbladder removed years ago). This round I have tried the dandelion tea whenever I get that familiar ache
and it works like a charm. I have read that a low fat diet causes the liver to become somewhat congested and that dandelion can help it to function better.
I now feel I can make it through the whole round. Yea!

ZJ-Try using only the Yerba Mate and Green tea at first and see how you feel. If you feel fine then add the dandelion root next time and see how you feel. Try to weed out the tea, if any, thats making you feel bad. Also you could be sensitive to caffine. I know if I drink too much green tea with caffine I dont feel well-Thats why I use the decaf green tea.

Also, if you are allergic to ragweed you will be allergic to dandelion root tea.

thanxs treebear, that what I'm doing, the problem is once you do something and you feel bad you have to live with it the whole day.

I am concerned about the caffeine because I quite coffee about 5 months ago and have just been drinking green tea in the morning. Yerba mate has a lot more caffeine then green so I bought some decaf too. I would think though that if it was the caffeine I would be feeling wiry and not out of it and tired

I'm feeling much better now with the three-tea combo. Today is day 6 using it and I'm having two big mugs each morning. I'm not as tired today and my cut feels generally freer and...hard to articulate...but just better.

I have not felt well for the last 2 days, shaky, very hungry. Only new thing is this tea. I do have ragweed allergy so I do not know if that is it, but have stopped all of the teas for today to see if I will feel better.
