I don't own any Visa credit cards, so I had to use my ATM Visa to purchase hcg from http://www.pharmacyescrow.com. I placed my order in in Sept of 2009. Less than 6 months later, a retailer got suspicious of a transaction, did some detective work on their own and called me to verify the transaction. I never use my ATM card for purchases and never use it to withdraw money. In fact the only place I have ever used it at was pharmacy escrow. And I used an abbreviated form of my name and and incorrect phone number which the identity thief copied.

Basically, by the time I found out, they had gone on a shopping spree, draining my checking account of $3000.

I'm not putting down out of country transactions, but,. please, please be careful ordering from pharmacyescrow.com. And please don't make the same mistake I did and order using a Debit/ ATM card. And please please pay go line by line on your statement so you catch things, even 6 months later.

WARNING- if you have placed an order on http://www.pharmacyescrow.com/ using an ATM card, please cancel the card and get a new one. And please change your account number so they cannot drain your checking account like they did mine.
    Thankful People: Elliebabe, tenicia

Be aware too, that every merchant who processes credit cards also has a merchant processing company who handles the transaction. So it may have been stolen from the merchant processing company's database and not the merchant themselves.

Brandeline, that is exactly what the bank told me. They don't know where the theft occurred, it could be an employee, a processing company, a hacker, we just don't know. I bank with local credit union and another member who also ordered from pharmacy escrow at the same time got their credit stolen as well. I was told my stuff was stolen in Mauritius (sp?) and the other members in the UK. So if you have ordered from them I really recommend that you change your card number.

I heard from the bank investigator in my case that the thieves continue to use the card even though the transactions are getting rejected because the card is closed. And mind you they are not buying bread and butter. They are running huge bills purchasing electrical and air conditioning equipment!

From what I have heard too, once a credit card number gets stolen, it's often traded around on the internet at various hacker sites. So there could be one original thief, who traded the number to whoever multiple someones would buy it, and now several theives are trying to use it, or retrading it to others for a fee. It really is a nasty little underground for stolen CC #'s that just keeps spiraling.
