It seems like everyone averages about a pound a day on the 23 day protocol and only .5 at the end of a 40 day protocol. Can someone tell me the benefits in doing a 40 day protocol verses a 23 protocol? :)

Oh let me count the ways! :-)

    1. Dr S only did a short protocol when the person had 15 pounds or less to lose.
    2. You lose more weight. Most do not average a pound a day on the 23 day protocol. It's much more common to see about 12-15 pounds lost in that short protocol. There are a lucky few who lose better than that but it's not the majority. (I've been on this forum for over a year now so that's what I've seen.)
    3. I'm very fearful that the problems stabilizing that I see are from the short rounds which were not standard in dr. S's day. I think it's that the hypothalamus isn't resting like it should on that short round. It stands to reason that if you have a lot of weigh to lose, your hypothalamus is VERY whacked up.

others will not agree but this is what I'm seeing over the past 14 mos of reading here. So I'm concerned. I don't let anyone I help here in town do less than a 30 day and I encourage them to go the whole 40.

I know quite a nubmer of people in real life and those that stabilize the best are the ones who did the standard (4o injection) protocol. Hope that helps.

Oh and the average weight lose doesnt seem to be any better on the shorter round.

I am on the 23 day plan, however, it looks like I have enough left for 25 days....I am r1p2d23 and have lost 20.8 lbs. I am a little nervous about p3

i don't think there is a difference. i think that it APPEARS like people stabilize better with a long round because their average percent of loss per day is a bit lower- so they've already stabilized a bit by the time they get to the end of their round. those doing a short round haven't had as much time to "secure" their weight.

so let's say you do a long round, you average .6 per day, lose 24# and stabilize at your liw. compare that to someone who averages .7 per day on a short round, stabilizes over their liw, which drops their daily average back to .6. I think in the long run it makes no difference at all.

my first 3 rounds were 22 days, 38 days, and 23 days. stabilized perfectly after each of them. R4 was 31 days, and i stabilized much higher.
