I am on day 24 of hCG drops and day 21 of the VLCD. I have not cheated even once but I am so frustrated right now that I am seriously debating scrapping the whole thing.
Stats: Female. Weight: 165. Height 5'6.5". After loading: Weight: 170.2 Current: Weight: 158.6 Real Loss: 6.4 lbs. Goal: Weight: 145 I know I'm supposed to look at the 170.2 as my beginning weight, but I have NEVER weighed that much and I don't want to count it because that's not technically where I'm coming from. In three weeks I have only improved my weight by 6.4 lbs. My fingernails are very brittle. My skin is so dry that my hands are cracking and my legs look like a cracked desert. I'm extremely grumpy, probably more from lack of results than from the diet itself.
I'm normally a vegetarian, but I have been eating fish twice a day per Dr. Simeon's protocol. I'm not mixing my vegetables. I'm not using cosmetics except for Shampoo which I've used as a body wash too, but rinse quickly.
I'm drinking plenty of water.
Was still recovering from knee surgery, but yesterday began walk/running and will continue doing that 3x a week.
It's 4pm today and so far I've only eaten an apple. I don't know whether I should do an apple day as they are only for psychological benefit, eat the protocol food, or throw in the towel and go enjoy myself at a party tonight.
It was never my intention to do more than one protocol as I am not very overweight and don't care to be very thin. I just want to be back in the very healthy range and fit into my favorite clothes that haven't fit since my knee injury last summer.
Anyone else have the experience of extremely slow weight loss? Is it worth finishing my 40 days?
are you eating all of your 500 calories on the protocol? I only ask because you say you've only had an apple so far today...you have to eat all your calories or you won't lose. Hang in there...
Yes. Until today. The only reason I've only had an apple so far is because I'm not sure what to do. I feel paralyzed. But, yes, I have followed this protocol to a T.
Bumping this...Am I the only person out there who has ever had trouble losing weight with the hCG drops and strict protocol? Surely there is someone else who has been through this and can tell me something great like..."Week 4 is when I really started losing..." or ...I don't know...something.
I don't know if I can help. I'm new here....just been reading a lot. Have you been hungry during the diet? Drinking your water? Notice sometimes when you lose more than others?
I've not been hungry much at all. I generally get a little hungry at 1pm and at 6pm, just in time to eat my meals. About when I lose...it's pretty random. Some days I'll lose around .8 and then I won't lose any or I'll gain for a few days. My net loss for the last 7 days was 1.6 lbs. It's still a loss, I know, but I could do that without hCG. I don't want to give up because I'm thinking things might break lose any day now. I have 16 more days to go...I'll be sad if I don't reach my goal because it didn't seem like I set the target too far out there and why would I do another protocol if it didn't work this time, you know? I just want it to work. If I do get close to my goal, I will probably do another protocol because I could still stand to lose an additional 10 lbs. after that. But still...is it worth it? It seems to work so well for everyone I know.
I would suggest you get out your tape measure and remeasure yourself. If you haven't been losing, perhaps the weight's been shifting around. The fact that you haven't been hungry is a good sign that something's still happening. I'm not the person, though, who should be coaching anyone. I'm just too new to this. Good luck though. Things always look better after a good night's sleep. Most of the gurus may be in bed by now. I'd try tomorrow. I read this evening where some people have experienced a better loss when they did some Jay Robb egg white protein shake a couple of times a week. It seemed to 'shake things up' and get them losing again. Hope this helps. Bonnie
Thank you, everyone who has responded with encouragement!
Bonnie, I have lost a teensy bit in measurements. Like 2 inches overall. Last week with only a 1.2 lb. loss I actually gained a couple of inches. So, basically, I lost those inches. I'll look into the Jay Robb shakes. I was just reading about them in another thread. The person whose book I'm using recommends a shake called Premier Nutritional Drink. It sounds really similar to the Jay Robb one. I've avoided them because they are about 60 more calories per serving than a 3 oz. piece of fish. But, maybe I'm taking the wrong approach. I'll do shakes instead of fish tomorrow and see how that goes.
Thanks again. Just knowing that I'm going to be going to sleep soon and wake up to a fresh day gives me a better perspective and more hope for this thing actually working.
