I am a 42 year old woman on the Smart for Life "cookie" diet, and have added HCG, when I was not losing as I should. I do not know the mixture they made. But I am taking .3 in a little needle in my belly daily. My Dr. said not to load, but after months of dieting, I decided to go ahead and load. I just took my 4th injection (day 2 phase 2) I lost the 2 pounds I gained during the load.

My Dr. says to stick to 800 calories and follow the cookie diet (5-6 "cookies" a day then 6 oz protein and lots of veggies for dinner). He does give an alternative diet...2 egg whites for breakfast, 3 oz protein and a salad for lunch, and 3 oz protein and veggies for dinner. NO beef, veal or high fat protein. Not much restrictions on veggies (just how much of different types, but broccoli is unlimited) Turkey is OK.

I am trying to combine the protocols. Go with 600 calories, and eat the lowfat protein and my choice of veggies. I like very few veggies, and broccoli and cauliflower are my faves. If I am DYING for carbs or sweets, I will have a "cookie". My Dr. has no fruits or melba toast on his plan. Some days I will follow Dr. Simeon as well. So far I am not hungry, but I never had hunger as a problem, just eating the WRONG things.

Has anyone had success with varying the protocol?

ivieisme..........Welcome! I really don't know anything about this. I didn't think using hcg with that many changes ,to the original plan ,would work. Has your Dr. had success with this, with others? It will be interesting to see what happens. I go a little 'Rogue" with eating. Adding a few different foods that haven't seemed to slow my loses. Like replacing a protein shake for other proteins, or adding eggs. And adding some other veggies that are not on the original protocol. If you do a search on this forum under "Going Rogue' ( I think that's it), you will get more info.

Did your Dr. have you read Pounds & Inches? Good Luck. You can ask any questions here. There are lot's of people here, with a lot more experience than me. Julanne

I dont know what is in your 'cookies', but I do know that it is quite possible to gain at an alarming rate with HCG in your system if you consume sugar and starches. and certain fats.

As nanny asked, has your dr. had success combining these before? To what extent? How familiar is he with the protocol? So many doctors try to tweak it to the extent that it ends up being so far off from the orignial protocol, that no one has any idea what to do when it doesnt work the way it should.

Dr. Simeon developed this protocol for the maximum weight loss for the majority. If I were you, I would choose ONE diet to follow. And it would be the original Dr. Simeon protocol for me because I KNOW it works from personal observation of people that I know well, and having done it myself.

I'm curious to know what type of doctor would tell you to eat cookies as part of your diet. Also, the Simeons protocol calls for 500 ca per day.

I agree with Caidan. You should stick with one diet. Also, you should find out the strength of the Hcg that you are taking. If you doctor is not following the Simeon's protocol, he/she may also not be giving you the correct amount .

I am a newbie and I took the advice of many of the experts here like Caidan, grammy, etc. to stick to the original protocol first time around. I have had good successes thus far. If I do need to do this diet again, perhaps I might "tweak" a little bit, but not this time around.

I read on some other forum (wish I could find it now) where someone said she had been successful with the hcg using the cabbage soup diet.

I would like to try something different, but that "gaining at an alarming rate" scares me away from doing so.

As I posted somewhere on here, I worked for a doctor in the early 70's who had a weight loss clinic on the side. I recognize it now as being the hcg. I didn't have a lot of wt to lose back then. And when I asked him about his program, he told me I didn't need the shots, to just follow the diet plan - which was:
large breakfast of eggs and bacon (he said big glass or o.j.; but I would just take potassium or have grapefruit)
lunch of a lean meat and 2 lean veggies
dinner was either nothing or one piece of fruit.
At age 24, I remember doing that and it took 6 months to lose 35lbs.

I looked into the Smart Cookie diet before doing hcg (a sample cookie helped in my decision making :>)). How long have you been using the SC plan? Are you adding the "other" smart cookie diet products? if not, why?

If you haven't done so already, I would encourage you to read Pounds & Inches.

*(for those not familiar w/this diet you consume 800-1200 calories of their diet products and then have a low fat. high protein meal for dinner. if you "stick" to the plan, apparently you can lose up to 15 #s a month).

Boy I'm reading this and thinking this really scares me. As Caidan said, it is amazing how quickly you can gain weight with HCG and it is not easy to get it off unless tyou follow the protocol.

i wish you success, but i have to admit to being a doubting Thomas on this one. I truly hope you prove me wrong.

I am with Caiden and Jenni on this one. Actually I shook my head in disblief. The protocol works as written in P & I. Now I admit several have rogue some things, but basically still following protocol. Just my 2 cents worth and that is not even taking inflation into account. LOL

The diet she is speaking of, the cookies are not normal cookies at all they are diet cookies. I am a member of medshape weightloss clinic in Arizona and their hcg diet is not the same as the one on this site. I am having good sucess with the diet/hcg program I am no which does not limit me to just 500 calories a day.
