I am on the 1st week of stage 3 and yes I am one of those people my husband likes to call a "dirty vegetarin"....he is a chef and a really good one so I expect it! I am 6 days in to stage 3 - first 3 were staying within the protocol and the last 3 days have being the increase in calorie intake with a major increase in protein. I went over my weigt from last injection by 2.8lbs and then did 1 large protein shake , lots of water, tea and coffee and the next day was back at my weight. I have since had 1 day of eating again and have went over by 2.2lbs. I really want to come up with a menu that does not consist of eating eggs and cottage cheese as my major protein. I need advice and help please!
I have bought protein powder to add to shakes, I have bought tofu but need to be careful of my intake because of the soy aspect or so I have read. I have the natural yoghurt, greek yoghurt etc etc. Don't get me wrong I love eggs and I love cottage cheese but I really do not want to eat 6-8 eggs per day....I just can't see this as being a healthy alternative, even if they may part of the scramble is egg whites. Can anyone help please?? Do I have a fellow "dirty vegetarian" out there?? I hear Colleen is the person to ask........Colleen hear my cry!

I'm not Colleen but am wondering why you feel the need to up your protein? You can eat whatever you want except starch and sugars in phase 3. What would you normally eat during a day? You're going to have fluctuations and it sounds like you've done really well.

I would concentrate more on the calories, which is the bigger issue when stablizing.

Several mention upping the calories, but what if you gain doing that by overeating? Or just in the calories being more than used to before this diet. Seems like I would gain. I know my stomach would stick out.

I am about at goal weight and will not do another round unless some day I gain it back, which I hope does not happen.

I eat 1200 to 1400 a day. Am full and afraid to eat more. I would love to have treats more (acceptable kind but try to be careful) because of the calories.

I have been doing alot of reading all the discussions for the last 2 hours and from everything I am reading it says that I really need to up my calorie intake even more. Being a vegetarian and with the proteins that I am eating I am about 1200-1400 calories and don't feel that I can eat any more. I used to be a person who snacked on lots of bad food....chips, queso, dips and would throw in an Apple/orange once a day. I really want to re-educate myself. From what I am reading it looks like I need to get my main calorie from protein and not so much the vegetables as I am currently. I also need to probably up my calorie intake by about 3-400 calories a day.
I would really like to know how other vegeatarians are coping with this stage and a sample of their menu that does not consist of 10-12 eggs per day. I don't mind having eggs every 2nd or 3rd day, but just don't want to have them every day. From what I have read the protein in soy I have to be careful of as well....so any advice is greatly accepted!

Well from what I have read the main part of this phase is the heavy protein intake and that is the main part of the focus. So even though the calorie intake is upped the protein is what the main focus is. From what I have read the first week of phase 3 is where you eat similar foods to phase 2 but with a heavier protein intake. You start adding in new foods over the next 2 weeks, keeping a food dairy to see those things that may effect you individually....(ie) cheese may make you add pounds, so you may have to reduce this and be very gradual in adding this type of food in. Everyone is effected differently by different foods. You may add beans the next day and this could help you drop pounds. Does this make sense??? I am trying to understand it slowly but surely. As a woman I have always been so afraid of eating alot and a high calorie intake, so resorted to snacking instead. Someone once said to me "small pickers.....bigger knickers" and it was true! I thought I was eating small but no I was just eating wrong and this threw my metabolism and hypathalmus all of whack for 15+ years resulting in weight gain and fluctuations. I do want to eat more and try not to fear it but I just want to know the right things for the fact I am a vegetarian.
.....sorry long winded and perhaps to much info on me, but that is the Irish storyteller in me!

Oh my I feel the guru has answered my call....crikey!
ok let's see an example day -
breakfast : cup of greek yoghurt/low fat plain yoghurt with 3 strawberries or 1/2 grapefruit
    mid morn: apple
lunch - cup of spagetti squash with homemade marina sauce; 2-3 tbsp of pico de galle and 2-3 tbsp of cottage cheese
afternoon snack: either yoghurt again or an 8 oz strawberry protein shake made with greek yoghurt/protein pwder
Dinner - cauliflower rice with 2 boiled eggs mixed in, green veggies

Good old Irish black tea with milk and about a 1-1 1/2 gallon of water per day.

Colleen I'll name my first born after you if you figure this out for me!
