Hi, My name is Andrew. I am 42 years old and live in the Phoenix, AZ area. Today is my first full day on the HCG Diet. I timed it to start after 'Superbowl Sunday' and I am looking forward to one more day of beer and wings. Alright...I am really sulking and thinking about all the great things I won't be able to eat after tomorrow. I am a choc-aholic and I know I am my worst enemy. I am serious about doing this and will be able to control what goes into my mouth. I have read some of the discussions on HCG measurments and find it all confusing. I trust my doctor knows his math and protocol for this diet, so we wont worry about that stuff.
What I need is good advice on tasty meals for P2. I struggle with finding the time to spend in the kitchen and need to know what are the best and easiest meals to prepare. I like the idea of protein shakes in the morning, but need to know which is the most aligned to the protocol and tastiest? What fruits and snacks are healthiest and most filling? I would also like advice on constipation. My doctor says it is imperative to "pass a movement" each day. He suggests an herbal tea that promotes "movements". Any suggestions???
Hi Andrew- first off I'd recommend that you ask your doctor details about your dosage and then share those details with us. You'd be SHOCKED to hear how many doctors don't know or follow protocol, and we can at least give you a little feedback on that to help head of any potential problems.
For the BM issue, many of us use calcium magnesium citrate powder daily and have zero problems in that department. It is so gentle and consistant I think most people will go on to use it for life, plus you need the minerals anyway.
My fave. fruit snack is super filling and tastes like a homemade apple pie. If you make 7 servings each Sunday and keep it in the fridge it is easy peasy. Just make sure to do each serving seperate as you make it so that you know exactly how much you get each day.
In food processor:
apple 1 inch section peeled fresh ginger root 1 table spoon cinnamon 4 drops of liquid vanilla stevia
Blend until it is the consistency of apple sauce. Put into single serving storage containers. Pop in the microwave for 2 minutes before you eat.
Jay Robb shakes are my favorite. Vanilla with frozen strawberries, and if you like it sweeter add a packet of stevia. Favorite P2 meal of all time is Tilapia (you can buy frozen fillets at Costco) you can cook them from frozen which is so easy. I slide it out of the individual packet and weigh out my 3.5 oz portion, and put the rest back into a plastic bag and throw it in the freezer. Then when I have enough little pieces that I have cut off to make 3.5 I use those pieces. Anyway, I dribble lemon juice over the portion then season it with a little kosher salt, and Costco No-Salt Organic Spice Blend. Cook it for 32 minutes and have my vegetable with it. I usually have one fruit in the morning as a snack and the other one about an hour before dinner to curb my appetite. I skipped the melba toast and lost better. But the most important things I've learned on P2, drink, drink, drink, water is your best weight loss friend, and eat slow and savor every bite of food.
I agree with skinny on having a discussion with us on your dosage and the protocol your doctor has you on. We have seen so many people suffer unnecessarily because of doctors and clinics who don't follow the protocol and have their patients doing all kinds of crazy things.
I suggest to begin with that you read the original, tried and true protocol which you can find alink to in the upper left corner of each page on this board. The link is titled, "Dr. ATW Simeons Pounds and Inches", this is our hCG Bible and what we always go back to when there's a problem. It would be best to really get familar with the protocol before starting.
Just to let you know, protein shakes are in no way part of the original protocol and should be used with caution. I am in my 3rd round and bought some JayRobb to try this round. I have been on 2 rounds previously so I know what to expect as far as losses and how I feel go so I will be able to judge if the shakes are a good off protocol addition. Just so long as you know that they may or may not work for you.
Oh, as far as constipation goes this is what works. Natural Calm Magnesium ... here's a link to a site that sells it just so you can see: http://www.calmnatural.com/product/18340500001 You can buy it at most health food stores, as was already said, many of use this daily. Traditional Medicinals "Smooth Move Tea" can be used for those occasions when you need a little extra, be sure to use at night before bed rather than before work :). Another thing that is very effective is mega doses of vitamin C, works fairly quickly.
SkinnyDance and CeeDee thanks for the info. It sounds like first and foremost, i'd better get an electronic food scale or else i'll just be guessing my portion sizes. What do I look for in the varities of shakes? There are so many out there that do different things. Should this kind be of a specific nature?
My HCG is a reconstituted 5000 unit powder mixed with 5ml of bacteriostatic water developed by KRS Global Biotechnology, Inc. I then use a 1/2 ml syringe with a single daily dose of 25 units. Does this sound right to you?
The food ideas sound delicious. Call me lazy, but have you ever heard of fully prepared meals that fit the HCG protocol? I usually work an excessive number of hours in the week and the one place I can fail is on meal preperation. I am also having trouble locating the flavored Stevia. Have you been able to find it at major grocers or Wal-Mart?
I suck at the math portion so I'll get us some help, but I have a mental alarm going off about the 5000 mixed with 5 ml. It should be more like 15-20 ml bac. water. Hang on...let me get some help.
Linda Lou...Thank you for the response. I posted my doses just a few minutes ago. My doctor recommended a protein shake for breakfast and then "the simple foods" for lunch and dinner. One of the tea recommendations he made is that "smooth move tea", so I will have to find it. Unfortunately in my neck of the desert there are no health food stores, so I will have to venture outward. He also told me to take a magnesium and potassium vitamin daily.
The standard dose for subq.... 1/2" needle is 200iu. If I'm figuring right 25 units would be 250iu which is to high and you will probably experience hunger and risk immunity at that dose. I believe the correct dose would be 20 units.
I don't know what "the simple foods" are.... is that a brand of food? It sounds like your doctor is using a different protocol. I can't suggest strongly enough that you read pounds and inches before you start. At least read the diet portion which is about 1/2 of the way down.
BTW Linda Lou...I did some preperation and read the Kevin Trudeau edition of the protocol. I have also read the Dr. Simieon (versions) on different websites.
