Hi =) I came across this forum while doing my homework on hCG...I am thinking about doing a 23 day round in hopes of losing the last of the weight I gained when I quit smoking over a year ago.

I am reading varying opinions regarding exercise. I've seen a lot of people mention they are too tired to exercise....yet my doctor is telling me I will have an increase of energy while taking hCg injections. Is this not true? He also told me I would not only lose weight but see an increase in muscle...being a girl I'd just like to tone what I have ;-)

I am currently jogging (more like wogging, a slow jog but too fast to be a walk) 3 miles every other day and 6 days a week I do a 50 minute "Slim in 6" routine in the am, a gently yoga/stretch in the evenings. Is it possible to continue this schedule while taking hCg?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've had plenty of energy on hcg, but not strength. I'm not sleepy (although I do sleep well), I feel great all the time, but if I do anything physical, I get worn down fast. I hadn't exercised in forever before hcg (being 40 lbs overweight can do that to you) but I'm going to start after I get off this round - it's my last. I also want to tone up a little.

Since you're already exercising, you should be able to keep it up with no problems.

Usually you don't want to add in anything extra. You should have more energy, but you might find you get tired or sore quickly. As for the muscle I am not sure you will gain more muscle, but you shouldn't see any flabby and your body will reshape and smooth out.

You might feel like you have more muscle as fat leaves your body and you see it more. And you might not have as much energy as you do now WHILE exercising so adjust as necessary during the limited calorie phase.
Sounds like your Dr. doesn't know the details of the diet that well -- reading the original protocol and this forum to get the rest of the story for yourself. I used a Dr office and took what they said "with a grain of salt" and relied on this forum more for the specifics.

    Welcome!

I agree with all that has been posted. Everyone is different. I have days where I wear out easier but that's true with or without the hcg. If you've already been excercising then you can continue but you may find that you need to cut back some. Just listen to your body.

If you haven't read the protocol I strongly suggest that you do before getting started.

I am not on this diet as of yet (finances), but do a warrior diet. I eat only once a day and meals are in the evening. I do all my activities, hiking, dog training, construction work, with no food at all. It took a few days to train my body for this, but I feel wonderful. There are days I feel a little weaker then others. Generally this is because I chose a dinner that was not as well balanced or healthy for me.

I think a lot of eating habits and hunger are mind set and we can push through. If I feel weak on a hike, I push harder.

Just hang in there, nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. You quit smoking which is a whole lot harder then any diet usually... You will always want to smoke, I know this personally. Congrats!!!

    Hi OkieTInk,
I bet you're from Ok! So am I! I'm just outside OKC.
I am on R1P2D26 and I have felt NO loss of energy. I'm doing the hhcg and while I haven't lost as much as I wanted to at this point, I do feel good and have been working out almost every day. I don't see any reason why you couldn't continue the "wogging". I'm doing that, along with pilates and my opinion is that it's only going to help in the end. Good luckl!

The reason exercise, or at least starting exercise if you haven't consistently already, is cautioned is because of the very low calorie diet. One must be careful of not over exerting and getting dizzy or faint. And your muscles are likely to fatigue more quickly. Many who continue to exercise also find they have to add a bit extra food, which can effect how quickly the weight comes off.

I only did core type exercises while on the hcg. It will make you worn out quicker because you are on the borderline of protein deficiency. If you do strenous things you will tire. You will have enough energy to get done the things you need to do and some people even feel so "energized" that they don't feel like sleeping as much. (not me). It is NOT a time to START an exercise program where there was none. If you have been accustomed to being active you would be able to continue....most likely at the minimum amount......because you'll be wiped out pretty fast. I kept up because the 2 years previously I had been working out with a trainer and I finally have arm muscles for the first time in my life. I didn't want what I had worked so hard for to deteriorate. So my mind set was to maintain....not gain. Bare minimum. Some others did more...not me. I've had good results and lost 48 pounds. I never stalled as a result of my exercise as some people do.

Thank you everyone on this post. This is very helpful to me. I think the reason Dr. Simeon says not to exercise is because you DO NOT want your body to go into starvation mode. This can occur when you are consuming much lower calories and the body is expending more calorie energy then it is taking in. Of course, you are burning fat for energy (thanks to the HCG) but if your body goes into starvation mode you will lose weight much slower if at all. I guess this is what creates the stall. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just exercised a little - like 15 minutes - mostly stretches and crunches - I felt great then 'bam' I felt shaky and weak. I don't want to mess with it, you know. I want to lose the fat. I don't want to stall. Last round I felt a little exercise broke a stall a couple of times. Now I wonder if I should at all. I want to exercise a little but ... I don't want to stall. Anyone else stall as a result of exercise? If so, how long did it last?

I am on R2P2D3. I lost 15 pounds on my last round of 26 days. I could not figure out why the serious stall toward the end. The apple day worked but then I stalled again - did not gain, just stalled. I want this round to be different. The exercise (albeit very limited) gets my mind going. It makes me feel good but I don't want to stall. Again, any comments regarding exercise and stalling?
