Hi there!! some people can use all their normal stuff and not have any problems with it. You may do OK in the beginning, and then stall a couple of weeks into the round....at which point I would suspect the products. It's very difficult to eliminate all the oil containing cosmetics, but if you can eliminate some of them, you are less likely to have a problem. Your skin absorbs the oil and considers it "food" if the oil is a food based oil. This will stop your body from releasing fat, becauses in essence, it is being fed through your skin.
Personally, I watch the stuff that covers large surfaces of my body. I changed my shower soap, changed my body lotion to neutragena, as well as my face lotion. I use the same eye cream as always....just couldn't give that up. I also use the same deodorant. I switched to mineral based makeup on my face. That has worked for me. Hope this helps. :))
I posted this on another thread before I saw this one. So, if you don't mind, I'm asking my question here, too.
I'm new to the hcg forum and will be starting P2 this weekend. I've been religiously reading labels on cosmetics and body care products...trying to eliminate the oils. Yesterday, I was researching ingredients and found that Pureology Shampoo has Sunflower Seed Extract in it. According to Wiki, sunflower extract is an edible vegetable oil...not an essential oil. Is this ingredient on the Protocol?
What about jojoba oil? It sounds like oil to me, but it's more of a wax and is inedible. I wonder about using soap and shampoo that include it.
Finally, I can't find any definitive information on coconut oil. I understand it is good for us and it isn't "oil" at room temperature. Still, it IS an edible oil.
I'm really confused and want to start off doing everything that will give me the best opportunity to lose body fat. Please give me your experienced opinions.
i haven't used oilfree makeup in either of my 3 rounds and it hasn't caused any problems for me. some people are sensitive to oil based stuff or lotions but i never did. good luck.
Ok so I'm not a big makeup person - I've kept my regular hair care products and have used an oil free facial mosturizer for my hands as that is what has been suffering the most without my regular lotion. I haven't used anything on my face since I started (VLCD7) other than my Proactive toner and a spritz of Na-PCA. The toner is usually very drying but I've noticed that my face is more oily than ever right now!? Has anyone else noticed this? It's like my body is excreting all the fats through my pores
