    help! I need to get my Depo shot this week. I am not sure whether I should get it or not. The protocol says oral contraceptives are fine. But this drug is one that many women claim they gain weight on.
    HELP PLEASE!
    I love being on depo. No periods. No buying supplies. I have had no adverse side effects since my first shot.

    just my experience, but the Depo shot caused me significant weight gain, and I think I have heard that form others on here. If you want to lessen the number of periods could you try that new pill that only has 4 periods a year? I went up 30 pounds in about 2 months not doing anything different than my norm....

    I tried depo years ago and it kicked me up 30 lbs as well and I have never been able to get that weight off...yet. I start R1 next week :) Depo was a living nightmare for me all the way around and once it is in your system you're stuck with it. Just my two cents, but everyone is different.

    The depo is the whole reason im on this diet....50lbs in 6 months!

    Okay here's my POV on the depo. I was on it for 2 years and I loved it for these reasons... I didnt have a period the whole time (yayyyyyy!) and I was also able to lose 50+ lbs on it (not because of it but needless to say it didnt cause weight gain.) With that said here is why I would NEVER recommend it to anyone... It caused me severe depression. It messed up my whole system! After about a year I started having UTI's every month when I should have had a period. In addition to that, they continued after I stopped the shot until I got prognant Feb last year. ALSO in addition to the infections after I was off the shot I got my period 2x a month (every 14 days) until I got pregnant.

    Luckily pregnancy set me back to normal btu unless you plan on popping out a kid to fix all the issues I wouldnt recommend the shot...
