I'm giving some serious consideration to this program. I first noticed my dr offering it earlier this month when I visited for a routine appt. She said she did it herself and it worked. She charges $325 for the 20-day/lb package and it includes 20 days sublingual hCG, 1 bottle of multivitamins, 3 boxes of protein drinks, and 40 packets of Oolong Slimming Tea. I'm 5'6" and 160 lbs. She said she would only let me do the 20-day/lb plan and not the 40-day/lb one because she didn't think I needed to lose that much weight. I used to be 207 lbs back in 2004 but over the years I (and on my own through calorie counting and exercise) managed to get down and stay at this 160 lb weight. I'm hypoglycemic. And I'm having cash flow issues. I'm concerned that this might be a waste of money or not work. Before I invest into this program, do any of you more knowledgable or experienced dieters have any input, advice, suggestions? Anyone know of the affects this might have with hypoglycemia? I plan on contacting my dr about it next week but I'm trying to gather as much info as possible beforehand. Thanks in advance for any help. And is the $325 a reasonable price? The dr consults are included in that price too.
I didn't go through a doctor, and I used Mediral hhcg drops, so I can't help you on that. I do know that it works! I am also hypoglycemic and actually feel so much better on this diet....I don't have the sharp spikes in my blood sugar anymore. I didn't once get the break out in sweat, shakiness during the entire protocol so far. I started Nov. 20 and am on P3 now.
P3 is the 3 weeks of no sugar no starch you do after you finish the round of VLCD. I would highly recommend reading Dr. Simeon's Pounds and Inches. He doesn't talk about the phases (those were given names in a book by another guy), but he is the one who originally wrote the protocol. P1 is a cleansing phase most of the people on the board don't do (some do, though), P2 is the phase when you're taking the hcg plus the 3 VLCD after you finish taking it, P3 is the 3 weeks of no sugar/no starch and is the stabilizing phase, P4 is when you start add starches and sugars back in slowly...it's basically the rest of your life.
Oh OK. I've been reading parts of Pounds and Inches. I'll have to read up on the cleansing phase, sounds like a good place to start. Thanks for the info!
I personally think the cleansing phase is totally not necessary. It was not part of the original protocol Dr. Simeon's protocol is easy to do on your own. I don't think you need to pay a doc an extra 325 to do it. Most of us on here do it on our own..
Just the cost of whatever medication you buy..I just bought a 40 day injection kit for $90. The homeopathic sublingual which I did with good success last round, only cost me $27.00!
I read somewhere that you can only get the potent true hCG through a prescription. The other types aren't real or aren't as effective. Do you know anything about that? I tried buying phentermine off the internet once and it was a sugar pill. So I'm scared of buying things like that.
jphanton - I agree with debk ru both on skipping the detox phase and also on buying the hcg on your own for $27. You will get so much invaluable information on this forum that you'll be equipped to complete the protocol on your own. If you have some specific problems you can always see a doc about that.
As for the hypoglycemia, I suggest you read the book Primal Body, Primal Mind that was mentioned in one of the other threads. It was a real eye-opener for me. Not just on hypoglycemia but on all the systems in the body that have to work together. I had hypoglycemia as well before starting this protocol. But while on the protocol have had NO symptoms of it. The protein, fat and carbs are in better proportion so don't cause blood sugar surges.
