anyone start the VLCD (very low calorie diet) on Wednesday 12/7/09 ??? today is day 4 for me and it's REALLY hard, i'm hungry and feeling down but my scale is not the greatest so i bought a new one and it says 6 pounds less than my first weigh in at the doctor they day i started 2 binge days (which were mon & tues) obvisouly i am losing weight but i'm so hungry and really hope i can do this for 40 days. i'm here to find support and talk with you all. I also have some questions... my doctors meal plan says i can have Asparagus which i hate but have been eating, can i have Brocolli and Green/String Beans instead??? thanks!!
What method are you using, Jen? It sounds like your dose might need adjusted. Broccoli and green beans are not on the protocol but some have eaten it and done all right. Cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, salad, asparagus, etc are on the list. You can read Pounds and Inches on a link on this site but it sounds like your clinic has the right diet. Colleen
Have you read Dr. Simeons' "Pounds and Inches?" This is the original manuscript and many clinics change it. "Dr ATW Simeons Pounds and Inches" is located in the top left corner of this page. Make sure you read it and many of your questions will be answered.
Brocolli and Green Breans are NOT on the allowed foods list. There are some people who had eaten the brocolli and done OK with it.
What type of HCG are you doing? Did you do the first 2 days of loading with high fat foods?
thanks guys! well my worst day of hunger was yesterday (day 3) but today is not as bad. i am on the 40 day injections. the first binge day i ate Einstein Bros. had Bacon,Egg and Cheese on a Toasted Buttered Baget with a large Blueberry Muffin and a Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice, then i got home from work and had my left of Ribs and Chicken Wings from Flanigans and a Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treat and then i went out to a Mexican Restaurant and had Chicken Quesadillas and shared a Brownie Sundae with a friend. The second binging day i only ate twice but it was Mcdonalds Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal with Fries and a Coke and a 6 piece Chicken Nuggets with Sweet & Sour Sauce and then i did not eat again until late at night i picked up the Ham & Egg Melt with Hashbrowns from ihop. the ham and egg melt has tons of ham,egg and different cheeses in it and it's put on sourdough bread with butter and cooked on a griddle, (i wanted a nice breakfast before day 3 VLCD) but i cannot eat another Asapargus and Brocolli and Green Beans are a healthy green veggie so i don't see why i couldnt wether its on the protocol or not, i'm doing it with a doctor and my friedn is doing it somewhere else i think another doctor and Brocolli is on her list. My diet book says Beet-Greens but what is that?? is that their words for Green/String Beans?
No beet greens aren't the same as green beans. They are more like salad or spinach. Dr. S tested all the veggies in his list for the maximum weight loss and only allows those particular veggies. Colleen
hey Grammy, yea i know but i just cannot stand Asparagus another second and other people are losing weight with Brocolli. the thing is that... the only stuff i like on the list for veggies is Lettuce, Tomato,Cucumber and absolutely NOTHING else plus i can't mix the tomato and/or cucumber with the lettuce to make an actual salad right? thats what i was told. So Brocolli will have to come into play for me because i'm seriously gagging the Asparagus especially plain with only salt and pepper and no oil or butter YUK. lol. does the second week of the VLCD get any better? i'm hungry =(
You should not be hungry, as I said. What dose are you on? Just realize that if you don't follow the protocol, your losses might not be quite as good as they could be. :-( But you might be fine. You don't like cabbage? One of my favorite meals is to run cabbage through the food processor to the consistency of rice then saute it in a little chicken broth and add salt and quite a bit of pepper for a bite. I use it as rice and top it with chicken or fish. I sometimes put shrimp in it and garlic for a shrimp and "rice" scampi. :-) Colleen
Beet greens are the tops from beets. They are very yummy! I like them sauteed with garlic and onion powder.
Jen, the other vegetables, besides asparagus, that Dr. S allows are: cabbage, celery, chard, chicory, cucumber, fennel, lettuce, onion, radish, spinach, and tomato. Surely, there are some of those you like.
Have you heard of the Miracle Noodles? I ordered them and ate them the last week of Phase 2 and I had consistent releases each day on the scale.
You can go to www.miraclenoodles.com They are made from plant fiber and have zero calories and zero carbs. Many people are using them with wonderful results.
I ordered the angel hair noodles, because that is their best seller. Next, I am ordering the Orzo shape, when it comes in stock.
