How come you cannot have beans on this diet? They are a good source of fiber and protien, would be one more alternative to beef or chicken:)

Beans can have a lot of carbs in them

Yes, Dawn is right. Beans do have a lot of carbs. Look at the label on a can of beans. Every food on the Dr Simeons protocol was tested for the biochemical properties for this HCG weight loss program. Therefore if you want this to work and to be the CURE as Dr S created, you must follow the strict protocol with only the foods and quantities that are listed. No variations. If you try to substitute foods for any reason ("they are low calorie", "they are healthy", "this has more fiber" etc) the diet won't work as it was designed to do. Remember the Dr Simeons protocol has been used for more than 50 YEARS b/c it works. There are new variations of the diet by many clinics but do they have a track record of over 50 years of success? Yes, we want different foods while we are on phase 2 but you are only doing phase 2 for 23-40 days. Once you are on phase 3 you can eat a bgger variety of vegtables, eggs, cheese, some fats, NO carbs or sugars. Read Bob's posts about re-introducing foods on phase 3 to be sure to allow the metabolism to stabalize so the weight does not go back on. Good luck.
