Thanks everyone! I am going to do some modifications, hope for the best, and take it one day at a time!

I really appreciate everyone's ideas and encouragement, that's what makes this forum so awesome!

The friend who told me about hcg did a modified plan but she didn't eat pasta. I fear you won't lose at all if you eat that much carb. She lost 15 pounds a month doing a modified but it was really just more of the same P2 friendly foods, more fruits and veggies and bigger portions of meat.

I'm not buying it, sorry. If you really wanted to just give it up, you wouldn't go to all the trouble of coming here and posting about it. I think you want someone to try to talk you into sticking with it. The problem with that is, it won't work. If you're not doing this for you, you're not going to do it. That makes all the time, thought and effort anyone else puts in to "talking you around" a waste for both you and them.

If and when you decide that being the weight you want to be at is more important than being uncomfortable for a few days, there will be people here to help. I'm sure you can play around with the protocol, but I don't think Dr. Simeons sat down one day and made up all this stuff. If he has you not eating starch (grain products), I'd guess there's a good reason for it. That he went to the trouble to actually insert a whole section dealing with vegetarianism, and ways to actually FOLLOW THE PROTOCOL without eating meat, and it still doesn't include starches - have you even read it? - tells me that eating starch is going to be a wrench in the gears of your weight loss. But, it's your body, and your decision, and only your commitment to it is going to work. Be well.

It sounds like this thread has been about "How can I get the benefits of following the protocol without actually following it?". If the answers aren't found in Pounds & Inches, you would have to pioneer that path yourself. Most of the trouble people report here comes from not following the protocol, so it's difficult to give advice on how to go around it.

Although your aversion to meat may be primarily psychological, people also develop aversion when their bodies have lost the ability to digest meat. Unfortunately the nutrients needed to digest meat can only be found in meat, so if you've been primarily vegetarian, you are going to be deficient in those nutrients, hence the problem. They include primarily zinc and B vitamins.

I suggest some hydrochloric acid, the first and most important step in the digestive process when consuming protein. Digestive enzymes are also beneficial (although should be taken at the beginning of the meal and HCl at the end if you use both, as HCl supplements can neutralize enzymes).

Also, check out the Weston A Price Foundation. If you eat meat that has been properly and humanely raised, you may feel better about it. Also, you may find yourself intrigued by the historical evidence of meat-eating versus vegetarian societies.

That said, i have seen raw vegan hcg protocol online. Like russ said, you may have to make up your own protocol and be willing to experiment and learn from the consequences.

Wow - didn't mean to get anyone in a tizzy! Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not here trying to get anyone to try to talk me into sticking with it. I have already stated I can't do the meat and that I will have to do some of my own modifications. The main reason I did post was to see if taking the HCG would have more of a negative impact on my changes than if I did it without the HCG. I'm sure there will be some consequences to my modifications and I will learn from them as I go.

I don't have an aversion to eating meat because it's an animal and shouldn't be killed or anything like that, I simply do not like the taste or texture of meat and I never really have. I was hoping to be able to get past it to do this diet because I have heard nothing but good things about it.

That's all! Good luck to everyone!

If it's not a philosophical aversion, then some HCl may work wonderfully (94% of Americans are deficient). I think we should listen to our bodies when we have aversions as they may point out problems.

I was P2 rule breaker and i'm pretty much always in favor of learning new things by daring to experiment, as much as it annoys other people, lol.

I wonder a lot about vegetarians while on this protocol. I know one other poster said she did well eating less meat and a few whole grains in moderation. Wish i could remember what post that was.

Good luck! You could be opening a new path for a lot of people if you are successful.

I would say to stay with the protein shakes if you can 2 x aday but don;t add the starches and sugar if you add those your not even close to the protocol and will not reset your hypothymus which is what we are trying to do the Jay Robb shakes with come in either Whey or egg white protein may be good ones to try I"d stay away from the whey sinces it's dairy if you decide not to stick to the HCG I do know a great plan that works for lot of people you... can whisper me if you like..
