I just can't do the protein anymore. I would rather not eat than eat it, it can't be healthy to just not eat it and be so low in calories. I don't care about the hunger feeling, which really doesn't bother me until my stomach gets really mad and is rumbling non-stop. It's just the darn protein! I have been the doing the protein shakes the last few days and have lost at least 1 lb. a day with them but know that I can't add them in for dinner too.
I am going to try my own thing - the apple for breakfast, a protein drink for lunch along with some veggies and a fruit then just try a fairly healthy dinner using whole grains (like whole wheat pasta) and sugar free sauce, or the protein I actually like such as chili with beans only. It is very hard being on this diet when you were practically a vegetarian before you started! Does anyone know how still doing the HCG injections would affect me on this kind of diet??
Good luck to everyone! There has been a lot of useful information on this site.
I guess you will still lose since you are not planning to eat fat and sugar anyway. It may so happen that the loss is not too rapid. It is still worth to do the diet than not do anything at all.
How long have you been on protocol? What kind of protein were you doing? Were you mixing it up? Were you trying different recipes vs. just having it one way which can get boring and tired.
gosh sunshiny to bad this protein thing gets you, the water get me but the protein would be my favorite hope you new diet goes great I wish you the best.
I am on day 7 of the VLCD in Round 2. I am losing fine, it's just I can't stomach the protein. I try different recipes (I bought a book for HCG diets and have found many wonderful ones on this site also). I was rotating chicken, fish and lean beef, then I had to cut out the beef altogether this round because I couldn't get it down at all. I'm now that way with the chicken and fish. No matter what I try, I can still taste the meat. I RARELY ate meat before this diet, I just don't like the taste of it at all or the thought of it really and have never been able to eat steak or pork chops (where you really have to chew the meat). I have always had an aversion to meat, so having to eat it twice a day isn't working for me. I guess I picked the wrong diet but it was worth a try and I don't feel bad - I lost 18 lbs. my first round and 10 lbs. so far this round. Hang in there lilcrimson, I had a problem with the water too at first but then I just broke it down into smaller portions and before I knew it, I had gotten down everything I needed to!
I would be careful eating pasta and beans with HCG. I believe you will gain with it in your system.
Have you tried cutting your protien into tiny bite sizes and mixing it with the vegetable? If you steam or cook them together, then you hardly notice the meat.
Okay, I was wondering about the added carbs with the hcg.
I don't eat eggs or cottage cheese (someone suggested that I try that too). I have tried tiny pieces mixed with vegetables and tiny pieces spiced so much I almost choked - always tiny pieces because I don't like the feel of chewing on meat. Ugh, why can't I just get through it? Really, I wish I could, it works so well and keeps me motivated - until it comes time to eat!
sunshiny- i think having the protein shakes more often would be fine, if you can stomach those. if you switch to something like beans, i'd make sure that you get adequate grams of protein in your diet- otherwise your body will be forced to break down muscle, and you don't want to do that. i think your idea to avoid the sugar is a good one, and i'd also avoid any fats- your body is quite sensitive to fat while on hcg. good luck!
