******POSSIBLE TRIGGERS BELOW : no-no foods for fellow dieters******
Don't even get me started on having to bake a carrot cake for 15 that I can't eat.
We will be off the 23-day phase (only plan on 1 phase) for ONE week when Easter hits. Chicken, Ham, Deviled eggs, potato casserole, potato salad....grrr!!!
So what CAN I eat???????
Deviled eggs (no mayo, yogurt instead??) Chicken, no breading (my mom makes oven-fried chicken) Ham???????? Is ham ok??????? Relish plate goodies Green salad
Can anyone add ideas in here?? I THINK I'll do ok, it's my husband who's chompin' at the bit. 1000 calories is ok 1 week later, correct??
you can have the deviled eggs, because you are allowed fat on phase III- just very low carbs. ham is ok. i'm not sure i'd even worry about the fried chicken, but i'd pass on the potato dishes.
Have you ever done Atkins? If you have, that's how you need to eat on phase 3.
Skip the breading on fried chicken, peel it off if you have to. Ham, veggies, cheese, eggs, meat, all ok. Even nuts.
Here's a recipe for low carb zucchini carrot cake:
1 1/4 cup hazelnuts 2 eggs 1/2 cup oil 2/3 cup splenda 1/2 cup yougart 1/2 cup vanilla flavored whey protein powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 3/4 cup shredded zucchini 3/4 shredded carrot
Preheat oven 350*
In a food processor, gind hazelnuts to a mealy consistency. set aside.
Whisk eggs until well blended, add all the ingredients, mix well. Add the zucchini and carrots last.
Coat ring mold or bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray, add batter.
Bake for 45 min, turn out onto wire rack to cool.
8 servings, 6 grams of carbs a piece.
cream cheese frosting 3/4 cup heavy cream 1 pkg cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup splenda 1tsp vanilla
whip heavy cream until stiff. in separate bowl beat cream cheese until very smooth, then beat in splenda and vanilla. Mix in heavy cream at lowest speed.
9 servings 3 grams carbs per serving.
I know all you splenda haters out there will say something about the splenda, however this is for phase 3, and I assume you could try to substitute stevia, although I make no guarantees as to quality :) It is for a special occasion!
I have a fabulous book - 500 low carb recipes by Dana Carpender. Everything in the whole book is great, and in moderation, you can enjoy many more foods on phase 3 thank you think you can.
how strict are we supposed to be on that? i thought we could have regular salad dressing, and most of those have some sugar in them. if it is strictly no sugar, we probably should not have fruit, either. i heard we should do atkin's, but you can't have fruit on that, either. initially i thought it was more that we should just avoid obvious stuff like bread, potatoes, deserts, etc.
I'd be very careful just in case. The last thing I want is to mess up & have to start over!! :P
I'm happy w/ balsamic & olive oil typically, Currently I've been eating salad w/ lemon juice. My cake recipe is awesome & kicks butt.....but I'm going to try this one I think & not tell family. ;) What they don't know can't hurt them - literally. I'll give it a shot w/ the stevia too.
And remember - instead of mayo, you can use yogurt! I'm going to use yogurt for the deviled eggs this year.
i just looked at trudeau's book again, and he says to eat at least 2 organic apples plus an organic grapefruit every day during phase 3. so at least the low-carb fruits are in, i guess.
I'm getting close to starting Round 2 of HCG and have eaten fruit the entire time. I just eat more protein, veggies, and fruit. I have stayed away from processed sugar and starch. I found a dressing called Bernstein's at Walmart that has no sugar in it. It is an Italian dressing and really good. I have maintained my LIW for over 4 weeks now without any steak days.
