Okay, I did awesome the first 13 days of VLCD, no cheating at all with great losses, 13.4 lbs. in 12 days! Then I decided to enjoy myself on Thanksgiving Day, I ate a little of everything, carbs, sugars, everything. I showed a 2.2 lb. gain yesterday morning so I drank water all day yesterday and ate a mini steak and was down .4 this morning. Today I tried to do the same thing but couldn't because I was craving something so bad this afternoon so I had a serving of chicken, lettuce and a strawberry smoothie!! I had great control over my cravings before Thanksgiving and now it seems like I am losing that control. Does this get better?

    Hi,
Wow 13.5 in 12 days, congrats.

I cheated pretty bad and had no cravings at all the next day and I lost 1lb the next day and again 1lb the day after. Go figure.
I did not have any cravings and if I did I was so mad at myself, if there were any cravings they were beat down before I felt them. I was also feeling really sick in the stomach for about 12hrs after my cheat. Immediate punishment!!!

I think carbs can cause terrible cravings, so you have to be very strong for a few days and you will get through it. Drink a big glass of water everytime you have a craving or go for a walk. That helps me.

The worst part of my cheat is that it made me think I can cheat more and get away with it (which is so not the case and a waste of all my hard work). So now I am pushing myself to walk, go to the gym for low impact cardio and cycle 4 hrs everyday.

    good luck and stay strong

Yes, I've also been pretty mad at myself and I had a stomach ache too after I cheated. The headaches I had the first few days on the VLCD are also back, probably my body detoxing again. Yes, I did eat a lot of carbs and now I realize that the setback was not really worth it for a few moments of pleasure. The good news is, I learned my lesson, I do not want to put myself through this again! Thanks for the encouragement!

It usually takes 3 days to get back to the pre-cheat weight. This is why I stayed away from cheating. I learned my lesson by reading about other's mistakes on here.

Toss it up to experience and commit to staying on protocol through the remainder of your phase.

You may also have a Candida (yeast) issue. When you eat some sugars or starches, they wake up and want more!

I would keep busy and drink lots of water. It is best to get back on the protocol and eat your required amount of foods. You may want to skip the melbas or grissini as this can also feed the Candida.

Wow, I didn't know there was such a thing, I'll have to look that up and learn more about it. I haven't been eating any toast since my cheat since I have read somewhere that it can cause more cravings and stalls. I was down .8 this morning, still not to my pre-cheat weight but I am hoping I will be tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, think of it this way, when you make bread, you can put a little sugar in the yeast and water mixture. In a few minutes it will start growing! I have done it before. This is how you can tell if a package of yeast is active to use in a recipe.

I think of this when I think about Candida! The only breads I will eat now are the Ezekial Sprouted Grain Breads. And that has to wait until Phase 4.
