Hmmm, I ate a ton of mozzarella and goat cheese....with a ribeye every night and loved it. I think a lot of food, besides fish or chicken has a lot of sodium. I'll have to look into it.
Started yesterday and gained 3 lbs overnight. Only foods that I had was lots of cheese, nuts, eggs ,guacomole and chicken. Noticed Cheese ,nuts and guacomole had huge amount of sodium and and I am quite sure that I am retaining water. Drank 2 litres of water 2 hours before sleeping and will see what happens tomorrow.:<
peter- cheese makes a lot of people retain water, but i doubt it's from the sodium. more likely it's because most people have at least some sensitivity to dairy. eggs are common ones, too. and the salt in the nuts will also make you retain water. some people tolerate nuts early on P3 and others do not. after the holiday you may want to cut back to just meats/veggies/fruits for a couple of days until you're not retaining. then try adding dairy, eggs and nuts separately- add one and see what your weight does.
One thing i learned during P2 is that salt is as neuro-excitatory as sugar. Sea salt is beneficial, but my regular diet was a little too high in the salty/savory flavors.
Not sure about others, but I can tell you that I have already figured out that cheese causes me to gain and as soon as I got it out of my system and stopped eating alot of it, I started getting back to my LDW. Also, I started P3 with having a 3 egg omelet every morning with veggies and cheese, now I have 1-2 eggs and an apple instead, with no cheese! I eat quite a bit of guacamole and it doesn't seem to bother my weight much, in fact I had alot last night with some veggies and steak fajita mix and I managed to drop weight yesterday.
I think I might have to cut out the cheese. I'm on day 3 of p3 and am .4 over my ldw and pretty much freaking out about it! I have been having eggs for breakfast each day with ham and cheese. Probably better do something different and see what happens. I have loved this diet, but am now feeling very discouraged because of the weight gain.
Not sure yet Beestly. I added a little bit of milk this week and it didn't seem to bother me. My plan is to ignore cheese for a couple of days and then start adding more milk to each day and see what happens. Also, I have had some sour cream in the past few days and it doesn't seem to be bothering me. I also figured out that I don't think you can do the shredded cheeses becasue becasue there is a starch in them, right? The first time I added to cheese on day 1 of P3 I put shredded cheese on my omelet, and I think this was an issue becasue the pre-shredded cheeses have starch where the pre-sliced or blocks of cheeses don't have the starch.
I am so nervous about gaining back that I am going to add the other dairy options back VERY slow!! I am focused on proteins, fruits and vegetables still and have been taking in about 1300-1700 calories per day and getting about 250%-300% of my daily requirement of protein.
ready - you could be having a problem because of the ham. I've looked and I can't find one that doesn't involve sugar in the curing process. Did you check carefully? Sugar and starch shouldn't be eaten during P3.
