Aside from probably a high sugar content, I wouldn't do maple bacon simply because it doesn't taste good...at least to my family and me it didn't. Also, when frying it, it burned very easily. It certainly wasn't worth the cost (and it wasn't really very expensive either) and we've not bought it since.
Sometimes stores will have a store sliced bacon that is no sugar added. If you can't find it, just read the label and pick the least offender. Can't always go strictly with protocol. Wish we could.
