dgg- be a little careful with balsamic vinegar because it is made from grapes- which are a very sweet fruit. i'm guessing this is why Dr. S. only allows apple cider vinegar in the protocol. what's the name of the seasoning mix? i'll be over near a trader joe's in a week or so- sure wish they had one in my town!

beth- for myself, i've had the cottage cheese option (3.5 oz of fat-free) when i really craved a change- but i don't think i lose as well. i think part of it is the sugar in the milk, and part of it is a dairy sensitivity. many people are sensitive to dairy without knowing it, which i think messes some people up in P3 because most of us eat a lot of cheese in that phase. and cheese is probably the worst dairy to eat, because it's so concentrated.

i don't color my hair but that question has come up a lot in the past- i don't recall anyone having any problems with it.

Ok no prob with the hair

and I agree with the milk not enough to make a difference in coffee let alone anywhere else... I did add a little to my califlower mashed potatoes but only 1 tablespoon and I get 7 serving out of that normally ..it makes them smoother... i'll wait til well in to p3 and p4 to add back the dairy I feel really lucky because I love all the vege's on this plan so it's been easy to mix them up and not eat the same thing over and over

dgg I've used rice vinager but i agree tha balsamic may have higher sugar maybe we can check that somewhere the difference between them I nned to go dry my hair now so I'll look into it tomorrow when I get home

    Night everyone

I know cottage cheese is not on original protocol, but I have been using 3 1/2 ounces a couple times in the last few weeks, just as a little variety. Doc recommended trying. Have lost every time I have had it. However, who can say whether I would have lost more if I had chosen not to. I am having such a hard time sometimes with the food choices, that I feel if it is keeping me going, it is worth it.

Maybe I should try more red meat. I have stayed away from it in the past, but at least it is on protocol.

Well I'm all for trying the cottage cheese I'll buy a small container and give it a try with some cucumber over the weekend for lunch...I have 1 more room to paint and that will be a quick lunch for me and you add the red meat and see what happens...I've use top sirloin, very lean organic hamburger I've even used Kobe beef burget and a steak (I got 3 meals out of 1 steak) I weight it before grilling and had it 3 days in a row and not had a gain...other than a few slight stalls which I think are more attributed to old set point issues one lasting 3 days and 1 day stayed the same and I didn't eat meat those days I've been very consistant... I really think the more variety we do the better, tricks the body..

Ok let's talk about The Big T day Releana Peeps! Let's make a plan! What are you doing T Day? P3ers lets hear from you also... If we plan ahead their is less chance of straying from the protocol.....

so the questiom is.. to stray or not to stray?

I personally can't imagine a reason to go off the diet just becuase it's Thanksgiving. And there's no way I could enjoy it knowing that it would mess things up for me. I'd rather lose weight.

I didn't know that balsamic vinegar wasn't ok - my list just says vinager on it. Plus I use less than a tablesoon so, I didn't think it would matter if there was more sugar than in applce cider vinager but, I suppose I should stop using it to see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

dgg- i use a fat-free, sugar-free dressing from Maple Farms of Vermont that does have balsam vinegar in it. i do the same thing, use 1 TB or less, and seem to do ok. but i did discover that balsam vin is made from grapes, so who knows! Some versions of the manuscript say vinegar, but i know i've seen others that say apple cider vinegar (i think KT's book says that, too).

there's a little referenced line in pounds and inches that leaves a lot of products open to debate: "In many countries specially prepared unsweetened and low calorie foods are freely available, and some of these can be tentatively used."

i'll look for the 21 seasoning at TJ's. do you use it for anything other than the dressing?

Good Morning!! Well, my plans right now for Thanksgiving is to make a beef tenderloin with brocolli or maybe do the cauliflower mashed. I've never made the cauliflower dish before so maybe someone could give me the recipe for it. My daughter and her family is going away for the Holiday so I got lucky!! If she was here I'd be faced with the traditional Thanksgiving goodies. Since it's just my hubby and me I won't have to cook the big meal this year. But I'm really going to miss the dresssing and sweet potatos :(

Down .02 this morning. Not much but better than going in the other direction.

    Have a good day everyone.
