Dr. S. allows us to have apples all phases of protocol. Linda Prinster agrees...and all fruits are recommended except mango, bananas and any type of melon for P3. It is my personal opinion that given enough time hCG resets the hypothalmus and will help us deal with natural fruit sugars the way we are intended. Below are Dr.S's statements on Blood sugar.

Towards the end of a course or when a patient has nearly reached his normal weight it occasionally happens that the blood sugar drops below normal, and we have even seen this in patients who had an abnormally high blood sugar before treatment. Such an attack of hypoglycemia is almost identical with the one seen in diabetics who have taken too much insulin. The attack comes on suddenly; there is the same feeling of light-headedness, weakness in the knees, trembling, and unmotivated sweating; but under HCG, hypoglycemia does not produce any feeling of hunger. All these symptoms are almost instantly relieved by taking two heaped teaspoons of sugar.

In the course of treatment the possibility of such an attack is explained to those patients who are in a phase in which a drop in blood sugar may occur. They are instructed to keep sugar or glucose sweets handy, particularly when driving a car. They are also told to watch the effect of taking sugar very carefully and report the following day. This is important, because anxious patients to whom such an attack has been explained are apt to take sugar unnecessarily, in which case it inevitably produces a gain in weight and does not dramatically relieve the symptoms for which it was taken, proving that these were not due to hypoglycemia. Some patients mistake the effects of emotional stress for hypoglycemia. When the symptoms are quickly relieved by sugar this is proof that they were indeed due to an abnormal lowering of the blood sugar, and in that case there is no increase in the weight on the following day. We always suggest that sugar be taken if the patient is in doubt.

Once such an attack has been relieved with sugar we have never seen it recur on the immediately subsequent days, and only very rarely does a patient have two such attacks separated by several days during a course of treatment. In patients who have not eaten sufficiently during the first two days of treatment we sometimes give sugar when the minor symptoms usually felt during the first three days of treatment continue beyond that time, and in some cases this has seemed to speed up the euphoria ordinarily associated with the HCG method

Thanks Lis. I read that also, but interpreted it to mean during Phase 2 while on HCG. I was fine all the way through phase 2 but have been weak and had fainting spells more than once during phase 3.

I have decided I screwed up horrible this week. Starting first thing in the AM I am going to treat this as though today was my first day on phase 3. Slowly introduce foods and stick to what I know works. I was so excited to try new foods again that I messed my mental thinking up! So it is back to chicken and steak and veggies for a week then I will add in eggs. Then a few days and cheese. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving being a protein and veggie day. I refuse to allow myself to indulge in the sinful foods any longer! TOM or no TOM I have had enough!

Erecca - good for you!! GO KICK TOMS BUTT :O)

So I know I didn't get enough water in today with everything that happened. Finally around 4 I went down to the cafeteria & got a salad with some veggies on it & a ton of chicken & a little ranch. I bought sliced apples to but didn't end up eating them because they tasted nasty. It was hard to stay on P3 today & I know it is going to get harder the longer I'm at the hospital! My salad, apples & bottle of water were over $14 OUCH. I can't eat salad for all my meals everyday, so I don't know what to do. I have done a good job stabalizing this week & don't want to screw it up :( I'm a little frustrated right now. I did make some scrammbled eggs when I came home tonight & I boiled some eggs to take tomorrow with me. I also bought a couple of apples & string cheese. I'm still not sure what I will do about protein. The cafeteria only has so many options & it is not like I can cook there. LOL can you see me bringing in the George Forman into the ICU room.. Ok I'm getting delirous & I have a few things to do before I get a few hours sleep & head back up there - I'm leaving around 4 am so I can be there when the doctors come back in & I want to beat that SF traffice.

love you guys & I will try & check in tomorrow on here, but I will be updating on FB as well!

OMG I have been screwing up majorly!! I didn't know about the mango and I have been eating it on p3, I also found that every time I have a cup of milk it will make me gain the next day, not worth it, thanks for the info about the fruit Lis.

Michele - wouldn't that be considered a dairy intolerance if you gain the next day everytime you have milk?? I have stayed away from bananas & mangos because they are high in sugar. I wanted to buy grapes last night to take with me to the hospital to snack on, but i wasn't sure if I could or if they would be considered to high in sugar as well!

    Morning everybody!
Down .6 today to 170.2. I added nuts in yesterday, so very happy that my body didn't reject them! I also had a little bite of a dessert that I was feeding my little one last night at our Bible group, and that didn't seem to affect me either. Maybe I'm actually starting to stabilize! **knock on wood** Anyhoo, we're heading out of town for the weekend--a little mommy/daddy time--YAYYYYYYY!!!! Going down to Lincoln for some Christmas shopping, a movie or two, and the Husker game!! Woot woot!! Can't wait!! Kids will be with my folks, so they'll be spoiled rotten! I'm going to take some nuts along in my purse in case I need to up my protein a bit.

I asked this in the P3 lounge also. How many people have added Diet pop back in their diet? I quit cold turkey when I started HCG, and haven't touched it since. I'm planning to stay away for the most part, but sometimes it would be a nice treat. Just wondering.

I start P4 on Tuesday! Only 4 days left!! Yikes!!!

Colleen, yes but fruit today is a wildly different creature than it was in Adam and Eve's time, and even in Dr. S's time. It has been bred by MAN over the years to be sweet, sweet, sweet. Our ancestors did not eat fruit anywhere near as sweet as we do, with the exception of the tropics. Wild berries are a good example of what a natural fruit tastes like. Also, it is large scale agriculture that makes fruit available in abundance all year long all around the country, again man's intervention in nature (which is killing all the bees, so maybe enjoy while it lasts!)

Annette that is criminal they are taking advantage of people at the hospital with those prices!

Bc my family has been gluten and dairy free for a few years now, i've gotten good at packing high-protein snacks:

    smoked meats
    smoked fish
    jerky
    cold burger patties flavored nicely
    cold chicken legs
nut balls (mix butter, coconut oil, coconut flakes and chopped nuts together into balls. sweeten with stevia and cocoa if desired)
    boiled eggs
    good quality hot dogs
    coconut milk shakes

Just get yourself a little cooler and some ice packs and you're good to go!
