I am on my 1st day of VLCD ever. I just got home and I am not really feeling "hungry/starving." I am feeling like I need to eat. I feel like I haven't eaten or like I am empty. I guess I am used to feeling full or even satisfied. So, I ate an apple and I drank some tea and now I am drinking water with lemon.

    Still feeling empty. . .

    Anyone else feel like that?

Not sure what time it is there, but if it's dinner time go ahead and eat! That empty feeling is one I love now. :-)

I am 47 was thin 110 lbs through my 20's even after our sons but then I just stopped caring. I thought what the heck I was so thin for so long a little bit of weight wouldnt hurt. Boy was that wrong. I quit my job as a caterer and have been bored and doing a alot of baking , cooking and eating. Eating to 184 but got down to 171.
I look in the mirror and its not my face looking back at me. So here I am. My goal is 135. I am excited about this way of losing weight and am encourage by all of you.

I have to tell you all that I have been so encouraged that there are other people accompanying me on this journey, that I feel like I can do this.

I ate asparagus and tilapia for dinner.

I have realized what a large part of my life food has been playing, since all I can think about is this diet all day long. I can't believe I got to this place. It is almost like I look forward to eating for enjoyment. I guess I have heard of food being companionship, but I never realized it had become my companion, but it is almost sad to realize that this is probably why I am thirty five pounds over my "regular" (not ideal) weight.

    Thank you for sharing here.

I agree WestonGirl, if it wasn't for all these wonderful people helping me along the way, I couldn't do it. I read threads and say Hey, I feel like that too. It helps me get through it all to know that people are going through the same things I am.

I had steak and cucumbers in ACV vinigrette. I have cabbage soup on the stove for tomorrow. I can't wait to see how everyone does in the morning!

And our scales are our alarm clocks! First thing I do is check my weight!

I ate elk tonight. I googled it and it was lower fat than chicken and beef, so we'll see how I do.

No response yet to my broth question. Anyone making soup with broth? Should I be concerned about 570mg of sodium in one cup of broth?

Kay - Dr. S doesn't limit sodium but still I would be concerned about that much sodium. You can make your own broth from your chicken. Do a search for recipes, there are some good ones on here.

here's one I had on my computer:

    Chicken Bouillon Base
(This is used in many recipes in this book.)
6 x __ oz. pieces of chicken breast
    8 c. water
    1/4 t. garlic powder
    1/4 t. onion salt
    1/4 t. celery salt
    1/4 t. poultry seasoning
    1/4 t. black pepper
    1 1/2 t. sea salt
Combine ingredients in soup pot and cook until chicken is done.
Remove chicken and refrigerate or freeze to use at a later time (6
servings). Also freeze bouillon base for future cooking. Put 2
cups in a medium size container to make soups or 4 tablespoons
in a small container to sauté vegetables.

I love a cabbage soup made with chicken broth. I cut up the cabbage in small pieces and boil it in chicken broth. Add spices and cook until tender. Then I cook hamburger and weigh out my 3 oz and mix it with about 2 cups of the cabbage soup. Yummy and filling!! I make lots of soups with chicken or beef stock.
