Oh I know that's what they say, Margie. But it's not necessary. I've been taking B12 SQ for over ten years. My mom too. My levels were in the toilet and now they are considered high. I'm just saying regardless what they may tell you, taking it SQ works just as well. I take 1 ml per dose and I take a shot every couple of weeks and my levels stay great!

I ordered the B-total because I saw it listed on many websites selling it in the hcg kit.
I wonder when should I take it. What does it do?

Down 1.5 lbs today; very hungry this morning. My TOM is imminent. I intentionally started VLCD this week anyway, I didn't want to wait. We'll see how it goes for me. Oh and I must go buy some magnesium citrate today :-)

I am down 1.8lbs this morning after my first VLCD... still above my wight before my loading days, though. Still, no hunger!

Gogo, what kind of HCG are you taking and where did you buy it from?

I am trying the hHCG drops first to see how they work.

Hi all. I just found this site and this forum. I absolutely love this diet!. I am on
R1P2D7. I have already released 5.8#. Down to 149.2! after 6 days this morning, having started at 155. My goal is 115#, which is the wt I was at age 32. I CAN do it!
I am doing sl drops. I love all the support potential I see here and love reading of your successes! Very encouraging!

Let's continue to have fun losing. BTW I have not been hungry once! I'm following
Dr S to the T, weighing every morsel I put in my mouth!

colleen- you still get partial absorption of the b12, but just not as effectively as you do if taken IM. i suppose taking a greater dose subq would have an equivalent effect, just like with the hcg.

if there is no difference, we should all be taking 125 units hcg subq. :)

Yes maybe my dr has me on a higher dose of B12 than if I did IM. All I know is counts are very high. :-) So no reason to go into the muscle. You can also take it by mouth anymore. They used to say you couldn't but that was before the high doses we can get now. Clinical studies have shown that you can get the levels as high as you want by mouth now too.

i just had some interesting thoughts based on this quote i posted: "IM (intramuscular) injections are preferred over subcutaneous ones because the rate of uptake is superior (95% vs. 80% or less) and because the quantity of injected fluid is a bit high for the subcutaneous tissues to cope with."

    1) b12 shots are generally 1cc. if that is a "bit high" for subq tissues to cope with, that supports mixing hcg to be more concentrated, as to use a smaller volume of liquid. most doctor's offices use .2, but they're mixing for a large number of people (it's difficult for us to pull all the hcg from the vial if that concentrated, so we end up wasting some hcg). i don't mix for anything higher than .5 cc, but we could also mix for .3 or .4

    2) if the rate of uptake with IM is 95%, that would mean that the dose Dr. S. used (125) had an uptake of 118.75 units (125 x 95%). If the rate of uptake for subq is 80%, that would equate to taking a dose of 149 units (148 x 80%= 118.4).

i feel a debate coming on.....

Since that quote says "or less" for subq absorption, we can take the math further- if it absorbed at a rate of 75%, then the optimal dose would appear to be 158 (158 x 75%= 118.5). if it absorbed at 70%, then the equivalent dose would be 169.

    hmm.....

of course then we deal with the theory that our bodies need more hcg for this protocol then they did back then- due to our hypothalamus being more screwed up from all the food additives, hormones, pesticides, etc.

On the b12 shots: I'm actually finishing up nursing school (graduate Dec.16)and looked b12 up in my davis's drug book and b12 can be given IM or subcut. Both are absorbed the same. Does anyone know of a good site to purchase B12?

I kind of disagree with the quantity being too high for the sq tissues to cope with. I actually had better losses when I did the 1cc of hcg like Bob suggested on my 2nd round. And the 1cc definitely works for my B12 shots. Like I said, I've been taking them over 10 years that way and my blood levels are very high. and that quote OR LESS would mean there's no real way to determine how much the sq is actually getting so how on earth could you even gauge it? Sigh. Unless you start with 150 and raise it when hungry. But I sure wouldn't want to do that. I want to start out NOT HUNGRY. ;-)
