I am so frightened for my weigh in tomorrow. I am following protocol o a T. Maybe not enough water yesterday. Drank 110oz today. And right now my scale is showing 7.4lbs higher than I was this morning! There is no freaking way! I know the scales accurate. I do the one foot on test every time I weigh. And it's been following along as it should. So why in the hell do I have a 7lb gain in one day??? Am I really holding that much water??? Augh. It is going to keep me up all night and then I know when I see the scale in the morning and it shows me a gain still from this morning (let's be honest, it is going to have to show at least a 3-4lb gain.) I am going to die!

You've had a lot of water today and it weighs a lot. You really shouldn't weigh at night. It can just be upsetting. :-(

I try not too, but i was sitting on the couch this afternoon and I just felt so heavy. This was like at 4pm and I'd only had about 60oz at that point. So I started drinking like crazy after that weigh in to try and wash out whatever is bloating me. Oh well. WE will see in the morning.
I wonder if stress and lack of sleep affects the scale? hmmmm

remember that the 50 oz of water you had after 4pm weighs over 3#.

Well that is comforting. Still woke to a 4.6 GAIN today though. I just don't get it. The ONLY thing I did different was go get a massage. But I took my baby oil with me so I don't know how it could make a difference like that. I dont know. I am going to go a cple more days but if my weight keeps going up I ma so done with this diet.

I'd say it was the massage then. I know baby oil is allowed but whenever I used it, I went up so I quit using it. Are you following the Dr. S Protocol, holls, or something different?

I am following DrS protocol. Sometimes I skip a fruit. and usually no toast or just 1. I average 407-457 calories a day.
Do you think the massaging itself may make it go up? Like the way it may break up the fat deposits or something? I think I will quit massages until I am completely done with the diet. I hate that now I have to make up for almost 5lbs!

Hopefully, it will drop right back off tomorrow. I know Margie still took massages but Dr. S specifically bans them. Here's what he says:

I never allow any kind of massage during treatment. It is entirely unnecessary and merely disturbs a very delicate process which is going on in the tissues. Few indeed are the masseurs and masseuses who can resist the temptation to knead and hammer abnormal fat deposits. In the course of rapid reduction it is sometimes possible to pick up a fold of skin which has not yet had time to adjust itself, as it always does under HCG, to the changed figure. This fold contains its normal subcutaneous fat and may be almost an inch thick. It is one of the main objects of the HCG treatment to keep that fat there. Patients and their masseurs do not always understand this and give this fat a working-over. I have seen such patients who were as black and blue as if they had received a sound thrashing.

Ya, I remember reading that. And then I read that post in the forum somewhere where Margie had said she gets them with baby oil. I have been dying to go in. I usually go in once a week because of the therapy I am going through from a car wreck. But it was so not worth that gain. I'll wait until I am done to get anymore. I sure hope it does come off by tomorrow! That would make me feel much better!
    Thanks Colleen

i don't think it can be a true gain- baby oil is mineral oil, which has no nutritional value (and thus no calories, which is why it's allowed). i suppose it's possible to retain a bit of water from the massage, but that's only temporary. remember that in the long run it's your negative calorie balance (from the vlcd) that is responsible for the weight loss.

back in the 50's it was a popular practice to try to "beat" the fat off, with vigorous massage, or things like those belts that tried to jiggle it off! i think that's what Dr. S. is referring to. massage therapists now know that's impossible- and as long as they are not too vigorous i don't believe there can be any negative effect from getting massage.
