Christy, If you plan on doing the break, you have to stop your hcg three days prior to the break. You do the 500 cal those three days (just like the end of a round). Switch your diet to P3 for the couple of days of break. Then fire back up a few days later.

I'm pretty sure this is right - it is how I read it anyways!

Kay D - yep, that's the way I read it too! Not planning on it but the option is there as a safety net!

    Hey everyone!
I am on R1P2D8, so far I have lost 11.3 pounds. I am 5'4 and started at 203.1. My heaviest weight ever! So glad to see it going. I have decided to do a short round this time so I can enjoy part of the holidays and then do a long round after the first of the year. My goal is 20 pounds this round. Good luck to everyone.

On my first VLCD, and so far so good! I had a little hunger earlier, but it was just 10 minutes or so while I was grilling my lunchtime chicken! Tuesday will be my hardest day because of my class schedule. I have class from 9:30-10:45, 12:30-1:45, and 5-8pm! I walk to campus, so I just hang out at the library and do homework between my first two classes.
I ate one of my veggies around 11:30, and then had my first fruit and chicken around 2:15-2:20. When should I eat the rest of my foods?? I will be in class from 5-8, and I hear we aren't supposed to eat after 7 or so. (Eventhough I am up until about 1am daily-- oh, the life of homework in college! Ugh!)
I did my drops at 8:30, and 1:45 today.

    Hope everyone is doing well!!!

The day I leave for my trip will be Day 26. So potentially I could stop the hCG after Day 23, continue the VLCD for three days, take a 10-day break (following P3) then resume when I return?

Is this what you're talking about:

If an interruption of treatment lasting more than four days is necessary, the patient must increase his diet to at least 800 calories by adding meat, eggs, cheese, and milk to his diet after the third day, as otherwise he will find himself so hungry and weak that he is unable to go about his usual occupation. If the interval lasts less than two weeks the patient can directly resume injections and the 500-calorie diet, but if the interruption lasts longer he must again eat normally until he has had his third injection.

It's my first day, too, Almost! I was hungry as well, but the hunger only lasted about 30 minutes this morning and for a bit longer this afternoon. I'm fine now. Had an orange and bush tea for breakfast, chicken, asparagus and melba toast for lunch. I hadn't heard about any cut off time to eat dinner, but I suspect as soon as you get home would be fine.

I was going to go for 23 days on R1 only because of my vacation plans. I didn't know about any interruption. However, in light of this information, then I could continue R1 for another 17 days after my vacation as long as I follow the rules and do a P3-type diet as described by grammy. True? I would really like that plan better than taking my 6-week break during the holiday season.

I haven't known anyone who did this but DR S says it's okay to do.

cindy- yes, you could either stop your round, or take your "break" and then resume your original round, up to a TOTAL max of 40 days or 34#, whichever comes first.

christy- i APPLAUD you (can you hear it?) for quitting smoking!!!! that is a huge accomplishment. and if it makes you feel any better, the research shows that people who quit smoking gain weight even if they eat FEWER calories after they quit. it's because your intestines are all black and yucky (the technical term) due to the tar and damage from smoking- so your body does not absorb as many calories as it does if you have a healthy, non-smoking intestinal system. after you quit, your gut eventually turns pink and healthy again, and you absorb more calories. but you also absorb all the GOOD stuff that your body didn't absorb before.
