I will be starting p2 this wk as well. Im hoping to have tomorrow and wed as my load days. I plan on doing a 40 day phase this time around and a 23 phase after the holidays. My starting weight is 158 and I would like to be down to 115! Good luck to everyone!!!!!
beth- that's a lot of sugar. that tends to fill you up but not necessarily fill your fat stores as well. if you do another round consider high-fat, low-sugar foods.
OK, I'm done for the day/night. It was a great "last feast" with my friends :)))
Thanks for the info on the potassium, cathyx. I've heard NO strenous exercise, is that true? Can you still do a fair amount of exercise with the potassium?
Is this your 1st time, skinnyjeans05, or have you done this before? How much time will you take between your 40 day phase and your 23 day phase?
moderate exercise is ok. i wouldn't lift maximum weights, because you're not eating a lot of protein for muscle repair. but cardio, light weights, etc., is fine. most importantly, listen to how your body feels.
I am glad I found this discussion! I "loaded" for the past two days and Tuesday marks my very first VLCD! I am excited (this is a first for a diet!) I am 21, 5'1'' and 196 lbs. I think I am going to do a 23 day round this time (we'll see!), but all in all, I would like to get down to 145-150 before my wedding in June!
I was told by one of my friends that is doing the diet through a clinic that the Dr. recommended prenatal vitamins, so that is what I will be taking.
Goooood luck, everyone! Let's keep each other updated :)
I'm a cyclist, conditioned to do long (100 mile) rides, but plan on keeping down the miles or at least the amount of effort. During the week I cycle back and forth to work -- about 6 miles round trip -- and do a 20-mile ride with the group at lunchtime on Fridays. I'm sure to most people that may sound like a lot, but it's somewhat light exercise for me. I just want to make sure I don't faint or anything because I'm used to eating quite a bit.
Thanks for your input, mg, I will pay close attention to what my body has to say :)
gogo- Dr. S. makes a comment that there is less chance of muscle weakness for those who exercise "vigorously" and continue to do so during the protocol. how much weight do you need to lose?
you may want to try eating a little extra protein (or have a sugar-free protein shake) on days you want to take a significant ride. I'm a physical therapist so a big cheerleader for having people exercise!
almostamrs- just check to make sure there is no sugar in the vitamins you use. love your screen name. gogogetem's, too!
Hi everyone, I am reporting in after my first VCLD. Today is my second day. I weighted myself this morning and I am done 3.8lbs. Well, I pretty much lost all my "loaded" weight for the load days. I think this is an awesome and encouraging start. :) Hope you guys do as well or better than I do.
mg, it's very encouraging to hear that! I didn't want to have to give up my cycling, even for a few weeks. I rode my bike into work this morning, very excited to start my 1st day. I totally loaded, by the way. Was up to 176.8 this morning, hoping to see a decent loss tomorrow.
