I'm not crazy about any of the diet drinks. There is more and more new research that shows artificial sweeteners make your body store fat because of the sweet signal it sends to your brain. You're better off to wean yourself of that stuff but if you have to have something, diet tea is better than soda at least. LOL Good plan on the food! Just see if falls right back down. If it does, try again later, like I said. You might also get some enzymes in case you aren't digesting the cheese right and try that with it the next time you attempt to eat any after your weight falls back down. Good luck!

I'm sorry Colleen, what do you mean by "get some enzymes". Could that be why I cannot seem to go to the bathroom? Also, eating fat on a high protein day, like the bacon or skin on the chicken, is that okay?

Oh yes, you can have fat. You can get enzyme pills that help you digest things better. That doesn't have anything to do with the bathroom though. You might need some Smooth Move tea or magnesium for that. :-(

Well...I have to do a steak day today. I am now .8 lbs higher than the 2 lb gain. I just cannot seem to stabalize. I agree that it must be the cheese that is sending me over the edge. I cut it all out on Saturday and woke up with a 1 lb. or more loss. I had to weigh myself an hour and half earlier than normal b/c we were going away for the day and had to get an early start. Then the place that we went served us pizza for lunch and dinner...I ate a good breakfast thank goodness but I ate an omelet thinking that little cheese would be okay. Then all I could eat the rest of the day was the cheese and pepporonie off the pizza's. I was so discouraged hoping that it would not matter. I drank a good bit of water, but not my normal amount either. So, I now have a gain. Again, I don't understand what in the world I am supposed except meat and veggies now. I could hardly stand the veggies on phase 2, now the only veggies I can handle is a salad. There is no protein there, so it is almost like only eggs and meat. How do I keep my calories up? I feel like I cannot complete any of the requirements...keep my calories up, while only eating a few things. I am do for my TOM in 4 days, so I don't know. I cannot wait for p3 be over and be back on track. Since last Wednesday, I have gained 4 lbs and I am sooooo frustrated.

Heather....yes, we seem to be exactly at the same weight, and I would be happy to walk this with you. My goal is just to get down in the 220's, which still seems out of reach, but I am having more hope now that I found the hcg diet. We will see....Great job on the 29 lbs....that is so awesome!! How did you stabalize? I am assuming VLCD is phase 3. Correct me if I am wrong, and when do you start another round? I may try and get one in between the holidays and mostly b/c I just cannot seem to stay steady, I am gaining every day something, so I think I need to get out of phase 3 as fast as possible. We will see.

I hate to be a roller coaster, but if anybody has any helpful or encouageing things for me, that would be great. I could really use a shot of hope here. I don't know how the steak day will go, but at this moment, I really don't care. I just want off of this rollercoaster, and get back to either losing or at least stay steady.

It might be cheese or it may be a lack of protein. Not much protein on pizza. There are lots more options available in P3 with the various meats and different vegetables and fruits. You can find some tasty recipes to try. I wouldn't assume it is the cheese until you go off a couple of days, then add it back while keeping your protein up at the same time. If you go up then, it's clear it's the dairy. :-( It might just be lack of protein and your approaching TOM.

My doc says to keep calorie count less than 2000 on phase 3, prefers 1500 . I'm not there yet, but wondering if anyone else knows if we still need to watch the calories?

no we don't need to count calories. :-)

I did mys teak day yesterday and lost all but 2 lbs. I am still in the area between my liw and the 2 lb gain. I would rather be under my liw, but I will take this. I was hoping for a good bit more weight to drop, but I will take it. Again, my TOM is due in 2 or 3 days, so I am sure I am going to see some stuff for the next week that will make me insane. If I am having a sensativity to cheese, should I not have eggs in the am also? I don't know what else to eat in the am, but I really would love some scrambled eggs right now. What would be your suggestion?

Tina, I'm not sure when you started P3, but that first 7-10 days is a REAL rollercoaster!! My first P3 was just miserable. I couldn't seem to really stabilize, and it was so hard to wrap my mind around eating a LOT of protein. Over the course of P3/4 I gained 10 pounds back. Now that I finished my second (short) round, I knew exactly what I was going to do! I eat tons of protein (example: 3 scrambled eggs with sauteed onions and mushrooms, cheese and salsa, 4 turkey link sausages, Wendy's double with cheese - minus bun and ketchup - and a side salad with ranch dressing, 3 egg fu yung with steamed vegetables, snacks of almonds and string cheese in between) and make sure to get my water in. As of today, day 5 of P3, I am .1 under my LIW (I gained .8 this morning, but that was due to a little BBQ sauce on my ribs last night and an Atkins bar - I really wanted something sweet and am waiting for my coconut and almond flour to be delivered any minute so I can make Colleen's chocolate mug cake! So, I know what my culprit was. I will remedy that today by eating cleaner.)

I would make sure to up your protein. Colleen is right that there isn't much there on a couple of slices of pizza. TOM is more than likely playing a part in this too, but start with getting your protein up there and see what happens. In fact, I would try that before cutting out cheese and/or eggs.

P3 is so different from person to person and you will learn a lot about what works for you and what doesn't during this initial P3. For example, I learned that almonds are fine with me so I started eating them on day 1. No problems. These are the things you will know about your body's tolerances the next time.

We both have a journey ahead of us here (you too Heather -- that makes 3 of us that are of similar weight -- I was 274.3 this morning!) and there will be several more rounds before we reach our goal. The most important thing? Be gentle to yourself! If you gain a bit but learn what not to do, then it is a lesson learned. If you gain a bit but continue to do the same thing, then there is something to be learned there too. As someone here as said, this is a marathon, not a sprint. You're going to succeed beyond your wildest imagination and when you look back and are amazed at what you have accomplished, you will see these little stumbling blocks as just a tiny blip on that roadmap.

Listen to your body - what it needs, when it needs it, what it likes and even more importantly, doesn't like. Make note of those items and move forward. No one can tell you exactly what will work for you, but Tina is an expert! Read here and look for some inspirations and what others have tried and then experiment on you. That is the only way you will truly know if it works for you or not.

I'm excited for you, for all of us, and have no doubt that this will work!

    Hugssssssssssss,

    Jacklin
