Jacklin - for me, it seemed the 23 day round worked better - I also felt more mentally able to handle a month (23 + 3 VLCD). I am at the point where I only eat ground chicken breast and having that for breakfast and dinner just gets old. This way I can lose, stabilize, lose, stabilize, etc.... But each person is different. If you can handle the losses slowing down (for me they did after first week), then you'll be fine. and if you can handle that lack of variety, you're fine.
I stick to the Dr. S. protocol exactly - never deviate even though others may say it didn't affect their losses. I figure if I'm going to do this, I want to lose as much as possible because of the lack of variety. I've always done Stevia (even though it doesn't excite me), I've only done those fruits and veggies on list and only ground chicken breast. I never do salt because I retain water the very next day. I drink 135 ounces of water in addition to coffee, tea, sparkling mineral water - not necessarily a Dr. S. Protocol - but works for me.
While I live in the desert - Arizona - and trust me, it's very dry, I never use any lotion regardless of if it's oil free. I think drinking so much water helps me out.
My confidence is coming back now that I'm getting smaller. Will be glad to have it all gone.
Mikkydee - your poor, poor hand. Not good, sir. I know you're able to heal in leaps and bounds, and all that. But you get injuried each time you dive. You need to take care of yourself buddy. Perhaps some stitches? I hope you get better soon. Take good care!!
i agree with annette- if you have a lot of weight to lose, stick with 3wk rounds. you'll probably average more per day. your losses slow down quite a bit with the 40-day rounds, in addition to them feeling sooooo looooong.
Thanks so much for the comments and suggestions! Boredom and the slow weight loss at the end are exactly what is encouraging me to go for the 23 day rounds! You still have to take increasingly longer breaks between rounds whether it is 23 or 40 days, correct? That would sure take a long time to lose all the weight, so that is the con side of it for me. Decisions, decisions....
Well, jacklin, I took the longer break and I lost much better this time. I have to wonder if since we can have fat in P3, my body liked that and loss better in this 2nd round. Not sure. Trust me, I'd like to lose it overnight! I can say this, when I am on HCG, I feel achy in some place - mostly when I start P3 - or during the 3 VLCD with no shots. I know that is when the inches are going away. Right now my legs, hips and butt are aching and I know it's them leaving!!! Yah!
You know, I didn't connect the achy feeling with the loss of inches until you mentioned it! That is exactly when I lost the most inches. Just so I understand, you waited 6 weeks, then 8, 12, etc. between rounds, regardless of whether you did 23 or 40 day rounds?
No, after the first round, I waited like 8-9 because I had an event where I knew P2 food wouldn't work. Same thing is happening after this round - we have a trip the end of October so I'll be waiting about 8-9 weeks. My first round was a 40-day and this round was 23-day. While I believe it is suggested to increase wait between rounds and many do a short 3 weeks, I am only suggesting frommy experience that I did well with a longer break. Now I can also say, I didn't try the 3 week break so perhaps I could have done fine. I think for me mentally, I was also ready for a break - especially after the 40 days!! But also even after this 23 days. Once I'm on P3, I know about avocado, eggs, bacon, meat, real salad dressing, etc... Oh, one more day!
LOL...I know what you mean! The more I have been thinking about it, the more I think that I will try taking the required 6 weeks off before starting R2 and probably 8 weeks before starting R3 and then try 3 weeks and see if there is any difference in the off-time. Just my own experiment. I also am strongly leaning toward the 23 day rounds and will probably still skip a day each week, which I think will greatly help with an possible immunity issues. For now, I just need to get a grip on P3!! This is day 3 for me and after day 1, I was up 1.8 and now this morning I am up a total of 3 from LIW! As much as I hate to, I guess I am in for a steak day *sigh*.
Oh, jacklin, that happened to me after my first round. i struggled in stabilizing. I have already bought my filet mignon's and burgers. I just know I have to do HUGE amounts of protein for my body to stabilize. So I figure doing the high meat, I'll do much better. And I drink my water just like in P2, I do 4 of the 33.8 fl oz of Smart Water on top of the coffee, tea, and mineral water. I spend more time in bathroom, but that is ok! I will do large amounts of protein in b-fast, lunch and dinner and doctor suggested to have protein shakes made with stevia for a snack. I'll also do some allowed fruits and veggies but really increasing the lean protein.
Steak days really do work well though. you'll do just fine. Drink, drink drink that water.
