Before I began using hcg I was walking 4 miles each day. I wasn't fast - it took me about 70 minutes. I heard you weren't supposed to excercise while using hcg so I stopped. But I really miss walking. Has anyone exercised while using hcg and if so what were the effects? thanks,
The problem with exercising while on the protocol is if all things are working correctly, the hCG releases about 2000 calories a day in fat, plus the 500 you eat, that is a total of about 2500 calories a day. If your daily routine uses less than 2500 calories, you may be OK, if you go past that you will hit muscle fatigue and feel weak, tired and soreness.
So I would say that some walking is OK, no aerobic exercises and limit your walking if you hit the wall.
But only your body will know how much walking you will be able to do.
I did exercise while on the protocol and I felt great. I walked for 1 hour a day, did light weight lifting and some yoga. But I think that as Bob said you have to listen to your body. If you feel too weak, then cut down your exercise but I would think that the walking at a slower pace would be doable for almost anyone. And I don't know about anyone else but when I'm on this protocol the more I can do to keep busy and not think about food, the better. I am rarely ever hungry but I find that I miss food and eating so I just keep busy and watch the pounds melt off.
cuzimthema, It is perfectly fine to continue what you were doing before you started. In fact Dr. Simeon talked about this in his protocol. I dont know where people are getting the idea that they cant contiue the excercize they were already doing. Unless of course they havent taken the time to read Pounds and Inches. One shouldnt increase or do strenuous excercize, but walking, swimming, even tennis he says is fine.
From the protocol - PLEASE TAKE SPECIAL NOTE OF THE LAST SENTENCE IN THIS PARAGRAPH!
....Towards the end of a full course, when a good deal of fat has been rapidly lost, some patients complain that lifting a weight or climbing stairs requires a greater muscular effort than before. They feel neither breathlessness nor exhaustion but simply that their muscles have to work harder. This phenomenon, which disappears soon after the end of the treatment, is caused by the removal of abnormal fat deposited between, in, and around the muscles. The removal of this fat makes the muscles too long, and so in order to achieve a certain skeletal movement - say the bending of an arm - the muscles have to perform greater contraction than before. Within a short while the muscle adjusts itself perfectly to the new situation, but under HCG the loss of fat is so rapid that this adjustment cannot keep up with it. Patients often have to be reassured that this does not mean that they are “getting weak”. This phenomenon does not occur in patients who regularly take vigorous exercise and continue to do so during treatment.

.....We encourage swimming
......Finally, the weight can temporarily increase - paradoxical though this may sound - after an EXCEPTIONAL physical exertion of long duration leading to a feeling of exhaustion. A game of tennis, a vigorous swim, a run, a ride on horseback or a round of golf do not have this effect
