Hello all, I posted this in a newcomer thread, but thought I might appeal to those who have been at this for awhile to see if they have any words of wisdom. FYI I am doing the SL, .5 ml twice daily, Corian that I ordered from ADC and mixed as recommended.
I am not having the super duper losses that everybody else is having. I weighed myself before I started the loading days with the hcg, so I am on day 6 with hcg, day 4 of VLCD, and have lost a net of 1.5 lbs. I haven't cheated once, I have been picture perfect on plan. I keep seeing all of these huge losses people report in week 1 and it is making me just a little bit frustrated. Now, normally I would be delighted to lose this in 5 days, but I had expected to see a huge drop at the beginning and then have it taper off. That would be fine, but if it tapers off now, it seems that it will dwindle to nothing which hardly seems worth it. I am committed to doing the full 26 day cycle, but it will be more and more difficult if the scale doesn't reward the sacrifices. If that is the case, I would rather just do WW and have some semblance of a normal life. I know I shouldn't compare my loss with anybody else, but is anybody else kind of slow to start? Am I just not giving it enough time?
This includes load weight? Remember, most of those losses you are seeing include load weight. The weight it there and has to be taken back off.

I did gain two pounds on the load. After VLCD 1, I had lost 1.5lbs from my post load weight (so still +.5), VLCD 2, I was down 1.5 (so net -1), VLCD 3, I was down .5 (so net -1.5). I guess I just need to be patient. I was just looking through and seeing all of these other people who were losing 2 or 3+ pounds per day when they first started, so wondered if I was doing something wrong. I'll guess I should just give it some more time .... and stop comparing myself to others.
I guess I wasn't 100% accurate when I said that i was picture perfect on plan, I didn't give up my skin care products. Maybe it makes that big of a difference? And I am chewing gum (sugar free), maybe that is part of the problem?
I would give up the skin care and gum for a few days and see the results. Also are you drinking plenty of water? The protocol says an average of .5 lbs. a day. You have to look at averages. You may be different then others so don't be so hard on yourself. If you are following protocol it will come!
I am down over 70 pounds total!!

Moya how much do u weigh and what do you hope to loose........????
When you say completly on protocal ... can u give us an example of your food intake for a day and the oz or grams of each you are eating
Sometimes that will really help others help you figure the situation out???
im also on corion and my losses were bad im done with the 40 days only lost 12 lbs first 14 days i lost teh 12lbs then lord n behold tom came and stayed the whole entire round so i gained 4-6 lbs back so i feel like i wasted my time on this round so i will be doing round 2 in march i plan on buying a different brand of hcg and see if that was the problem i did start at 150 then 175 and then eneded up at 200 and i was feeling perfect, i followed protocol to the T, never cheated so maybe the corion isnt that good or just works different for other people, so i plan starting up again in march and doing another 40 day round and hoping for better and quicker loses i dont expect to drop it all in 40 days but it would be freat to drop 65lbs in 40 days lol !!!
iHCG, that's a high dose you are on. Dr. S says a dose too high can cause the opposite effect so I'd be cautious with the dose next time. Also you might have some insulin resistance. If you do, then 2 fruits a day is too much. You can try cutting one fruit and adding an extra serving of protein in its place.

The scale was down a pound today, so I am a little bit less frustrated. I think the biggest thing that I should do is stop looking at the stats in everybody's signature!
Alaskalaydie - As far as loss, I hope to lose about 15 -20 lbs total. So with that, a half a pound is right on track. My fear was that most people have their biggest losses up front then they slow down, and what would I slow down too? Again, I will stop comparing myself with others.
Diet plan - here is what I have had pretty much every day
Breakfast - apple or orange, coffee with stevia and 1 T skim milk
Lunch - mixed greens with 3.5 oz chicken (cooked on George Forman Grill with Mrs. Dash), vinegar "dressing" mixed with Mrs. Dash and some mustard powder and stevia, melba toast
Snack - apple or orange
Dinner - 3.5 oz of either chicken or fish (on George Forman Grill), veggie (so far it has been bok choy for two and cauliflower for two)
Snack - melba toast
As far as fluids, I have always been a drinker, so am drinking even more. Let's see, I bring two 1 liter bottles of water to drink during the day and mix in some hot green tea (probably 2-3 cups), and than usually have about a pitcher of green tea in the evening when I get home from work, plus a couple of extra cups of hot green tea. So what does that equal....maybe about a gallon a day? Not drinking enough will never be a problem for me.
iHCG - I hope you aren't right about the corian. On the plus side, I don't feel horrible and am not super hungry, so I guess in that respect, it is working!
haveasmile - I was really hoping to keep my gum! I have a pack a day habit (now more like just a few pieces a day so I have cut back). But if I am not willing to give 100% I guess i shouldn't complain, huh?
Thanks for the encouragement everybody. Just having a little vent session and being too hard on myself!
most people do best without the melba. It can REALLY slow down losses for many people.

Hmm, I am feeling a bit discouraged myself. I am on 5th day and I have pretty much lost nothing (after losing the 5 lbs I put on with load) according to the weigh ins I have done at the diet center. At home I weigh myself in the morning and it seems that I must weight a LOT less in the morning - don't really understand that but it's a bit depressing. In any case, it is rather disappointing - I was hoping to see a lb a day at the beginning.... a lb a day in addition to anything put on during the load. Today I sort of started questioning why bother and I had a few pieces of sugar free gum and an extra piece of fruit.I don't really understand why we are not supposed to have gum, speaking of gum. Its 5 calories a piece and can't really have much of anything in it.
